So after I got MGS V on my laptop, I had to crack it own a fair bit to make it run properly and it was still crashing.
Now, I assumed that was merely just the laptop's processor slowing down too much, but now I'm getting it outside of playing the game.

It's "Unexpected Kernel Mode Trap" and from what I've seen, it seems to say that my HDD is starting to die.
Can I please get some advice on this, I'm not really in a position to get a new laptop :(

From what I can tell, "UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP" can have more than a few causes (often the case with blue screens), including faulty hardware and software issues. I suggest you do a system restore [http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN85604/EN] to before the issue was occurring, check your system integrity [https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929833] and disable asny unnscessary startup items [http://www.howtogeek.com/74523/how-to-disable-startup-programs-in-windows/]. If that fails, test your RAM [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows7/diagnosing-memory-problems-on-your-computer], check your hard drive for errors [http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows-vista/check-your-hard-disk-for-errors] and view it's S.M.A.R.T. status [http://www.howtogeek.com/134735/how-to-see-if-your-hard-drive-is-dying]. If you've got bad RAM replace it or remove the faulty stick, if your hard drive is going then replace it and reinstall Windows.

That should cover most possibilities but it could be other hardware or it could be a software issue that doesn't get resolved by any of the above. Next time it happens have a good look at the error screen...it may be pointing to some specific driver or software file which may shed more light on the problem.

Yeah, your HDD could be fine and just some software messing with you.

I had that scare a week ago. My computer froze and had to shut it down. It started to do it more and more until I finally looked in the event viewer and saw that Microsoft Security Esssentials was messing with my computer. Something in the program called "oobe.exe" or whatever. I deleted that file and uninstalled MSE to reinstall it later on. Problem was fixed, didn't get that error anymore in the event viewer, and my computer doesn't freeze up anymore.

Eh. Sorry for what it seems like a pointless post from me. Just trying to take some stress off of you.
