Funny thin is, I saw this product at CES and thought it looked kinda cool. Even picked up a flier for it, or something that looks exactly like it from a Chinese company called Cideko.Snotnarok said:Atari called they want their jaguar controller design back.
OT: What an ugly button set and overpriced P.o.S. I try not to be harsh but 120 bucks for that piece of crap? Did they get the idea from the 360 and just say we'll add a few bucks onto it because it works on PC?
I can't imagine it being worth it honestly, there's 70 different ways to hook a controller to a PC without the keyboard granted but keyboards are not expensive, hell 90% of the time you can find one for free.archabaddon said:Funny thin is, I saw this product at CES and thought it looked kinda cool. Looks like the target market for this are multemedia PCs, so you can have KB / mouse functionality without having to use a full-sized mouse and keyboard.
It certainly looks bigger than an XBox 360 controller (IIRC from CES, it is). It's probably because the KB buttons are bigger.
And yes, you can use the XBox 360 controller ($40 retail) with a PC, but you have to have the wireless adapter for the PC ($32 retail). Then, you have to add the keyboard ($20 retail). This still costs less than the peripheral in question, but lacks the accelerometer function, if that's important. For multimedia PC apps, probably not.
That being said, in retrospect, I could go either way. Marketing the device towards non-gamers (ie: people who don't know any better about being able to use XB360 wireless controllers with a PC) might be their angle .
Actually I remember a conversation about the 360 controller on kotaku where a surprisingly large amount of gamers said they used the keyboard add on for the 360 controller purely for the extra heft it gave the already bulky pad. Some were even considering the ridiculous controller beard [http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/9/2010/12/img_0525.jpg] for exactly that reason. This seems right up their alley.John Funk said:It just looks ridiculously awkward and uncomfortable to hold. I've seen cinder blocks that looked more streamlined than this puppy.
Thank you. This setup has been around for some time on both the 360 and Ps3, not to mention on the previous consoles to some limited capacity and even the PSP.F-I-D-O said:
