Isnt it great that some idiots still live by an old piece of paper making it legal for the mass population to be armed with deadly weapons?, aah, americans sure are retarded...

No but seriously, how can one of the most influential and internationally big countries still be so stupid as to allow an old paper control their lifes, yeah, its tradition and it WAS a big part of the foundation of the country, but that doesnt mean it does any good what-so-ever this day and age.
abiding by our constitution isn't stupid. what's stupid is that we don't ever UDPATE IT. we need a tried-and-true "old paper" to uphold what little integrity our government has left, but it IS pretty stupid when we aren't willing to reshape that paper to meet the modern context. it's supposed to be a living document, and it's lying prone right now. it's like demanding that all games maintain compatibility with direct-X 6 and 3dfX's Voodoo 2 drivers. cus Crysis is a cool game and all, but the texel count is just too high, dude...

*facepalm* Idiot... Odds are that the kid would have given him the PSP, took the hand gun, shot him, and took back the psp... Kids these days make me want to slam my head against a brick wall until I can't even remember what I had for breakfast this morning...

Hmm guess the kid who wanted the gun really didn't like SOCOM...

In all seriousness, if I was that kids dad, either of them, I would give them the almighty wrath of the belt or something. Seriously what the fuck is up with that, both of those kids are equally retarded. I still can;t help but laugh a little since it's such an odd case and has some slight dark humor to it but damn...

the gun better have had a design flaw in it (to the tune of a malfunctioning hammer) to be a fair trade for a Sony PSP.

WHY O WHY can a kid get his hand on a handgun at the age of 13, you would've thought the father would use a lock of some sort but ofcourse maybe the kid is super smart and lockpicked it. That sounds likely, i'm sure the father had put all the security in the world on stopping his gun from anyone taking it and the kid was just a sneaky genius.

I half expected the story to yet again be about kids, guns and video games, with all of the blame on the games, of course - obviously if there was no psp involved then there would have been no gun, so there's a pretty easy media tie-in there... unless the shear fact that there was no violence would have undermined the current media trend in this regard.

I... but... What? Where should I even start with this? Why does this kid have access to a handgun? I know it's his dad's but, come on, really? And why did he think it would be a good idea to bring it to school? Why did that other kid want a gun for a PSP? There are just so may things wrong with this...

The replies to this thread are more effective at demolishing my faith in humanity than the topic of discussion. Ya know, things like "one of the kids is going to end up with a handgun and a PSP". Makes me wonder how big of a homicide spike there would be if I suggested that you kill "that special someone" (and not the one the diamond adds talk about) with your foot while they are sleeping.

That said, this incident reveals dishonesty (stealing his father's firearm) and ignorance (not realizing the social stigma surrounding firearms which has developed over the last few decades), but only indirectly stupidity.
