So, I'm a tad confused as to why (most) people's reactions to most of the creatures displayed therein is "KILL IT!! KILL IT WITH FIRE!!" even as a joke. Now, granted I realise that it's generally in good humour, but sometimes it's genuine. And considering the necessities of bees for ecological balance and the usefulness of wasps as pest control, I really wonder why.
I'll make no secret for my fascination for insects and find myself trying to stop myself squeeing with glee when I see honey-bee drones tromping along looking appropriately lethargic and fuzzy. Even wasps receive more fear/hate than I feel is justified, particularly social wasps. Most have much the same diet as bees. Paper wasps, aside from the lack of hairs and not producing honey, are basically a pallet swap for honey bees (smaller hives but point still stands). And spider-hunters go around picking fights with spiders for shits & giggles (and nutrition, obviously).
So why kill them with fire, when they just want to be petted & fed?!
