There comes a point in all sandbox games where the actual game gets too boring or you finish it and have nothing left to do. So you have to make your own fun... or just trade it in.
So what do you do in these games?

In GTA SA I had a group of cheats I would type in. Turn cop wanted levels off. Green traffic lights. Chaotic traffic. Pedistrians attack you. What happened was magic. I recreated a zombie holocaust! I would start off a distance away and try to make it into the city with no weapons, only the guns you find off dead people. Since the burger people wanted to kill you as well, there was no way to gain health. The cops would kill pedestrains (zombies) with you. It was all fun.

Godfather I would just cause mayhem. Throw people off bridges/through windows/into furnises, rob banks, escape the law. That game was too fun to have to make your own.

Spiderman I would dive off buildings. That game got kinda old pretty fast.

So, yeah. What do you get up to?

I just save and then commit random acts of violence and then reload the save. Unfortunately I don't own any of the games you own.

In Saint's Row I'd turn on evil cars and try to make it from one end of the highway to the other using only a knife. That can add literally days of gameplay to the game.

What do I do? I realize that the "sandbox" game I'm playing started out as me having to make my own fun. Therefore it (Gmod) never gets boring.

Well, there's also Crackdown. I love playing tag with a friend. Basically, one of you either nades them to the ground and then curb stomps them, making them it, or you hit them with a bus, again, making them it. You then take off around the city with them in pursuit as they try to hit you with a bus. Fun times. There's a bunch of other things I've done in there but it'd take a while to explain but I will say that the "Keys to the City" mode just makes that game rock so much more, lol.

Back in San Andreas I would steal a car and park it in the middle of a busy road, then repeat the process until I had a large pile of cars and a huge line of people in cars due to the ghetto roadblock. Then I would shoot at a person's car in the line, which would cause them to drive very fast into my huge pile of cars, which would cause general chaos.

Or if I didn't quite feel like all the setup I would just see how long I could last driving the wrong way down the road along the beltway in the Las Vegas with the FBI chasing me. It was pretty much Burnout with helicopters riding my ass.

edit: I forgot the most fun I've ever had in a GTA game was back on the PC. My friend have me this mod to change the attributes of each of the cars, which then made the taxi's super powerful, the fastest car in the game, and also the most abundant (being a taxi in a metropolitan area). Oh that never got old flying down the freeway and watching cars bounce off mine like diets on Jon Goodman. hiyo!

Let's see. Most of the stuff I do is in GTA.

First up: San Andreas
#1. Turn on pedestrian riot, peds have weapons, bounty on your head, aggresive traffic. Then see how long you can survive.

#2.
Black car, vehicle of death, faster vehicles. Steal a cop car and play robocop with the vigilante missions.

I intentionaly derail trains, I crash planes into the most populated areas of the cities, I will run through every bit of ammunition I have by getting on high ground away from the cops and just shooting everything that moves.I also play smokey and the bandit by getting two or three stars while driving a loaded down tractor trailer.

Vice City.
More of the same, I just steal cars and drive like an ass until they blow up, I'll set fire to random groups of people just so I can steal a firetruck and jump it off something.

Motorcycle super happy death time!

The original I haven't played in a while, but it was much easier to die in that one.

In GTA:SA:

Steal a large plane and jump out over a highway and parachute out to see my beautiful destruction.

Drive a motor bike into the tallest buildings door (getting me on top of it) and drive at full speed off the edge, parachuting off before i hit the ground.

Sniping people until a chopper comes and then causing havoc with the super car cheat.

TANK!!!

Breaking into Area 69 stealing a hydra and bombing the hell out of everywhere.

I don't want to sound like a fanboy or go on a rant here, but in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion you can *NEVER* run out of stuff to do in its sandbox derivative.
There's so many crazy missions going on all the time that is not related to the main quest, guilds, leveling, looting, cave exploration, stealing peoples stuff, raiding shops gah.

In this game there's something called 'The Staff of Wabbajack' which is my grand favourite pranking tool. It's a magical staff that turns any creature to anything random. I love using it on the Town Guards horses turning the horse into a 4-foot Daedoroth monster making the whole town freak out and the guard run for his life getting more backup.

Another fun thing to do if you're a high level Wizard is to use a Desintegrate Armor and Desintegrate Weapon spell on an entire city and then run away with the entire town running after you. The spell will result in peoples armor (clothes) breaking and they will run after you in their underwear trying to punch you. (desintegrate dtheir weapons) Bring all of them to another town for some fun madness. The guards of the other town will attack any people attacking YOU. :D

Speaking of GTA San Andreas, I know that the modding community is pretty big on that and that it has a lot of extra mod-packs adding further content, cars, hell even entire CITIES (I think they did make Liberty City for GTA:SA) why don't you try that out?
This is obviously exclusively for the PC version of the game.

I've never actually gotten near the end of SA, probably cause I suck with the plane missions, but is area 69 the military base in the middle of the last island(I can't remember the name, sue me)and if so, where the hell is the hydra? All I can find is that shitty helicopter

No it is the awesome jet plane. If you suck with planes i advise not to use it because it sort of runs like a helicopter and is difficult to get used to.

another one i do is start a game where all i have is Los Santos and get instant 4 stars by swimming to badlands

I gave up on SanAndreas when it got to the plane missions. To hard and to boring.

I couldn't think of anything to do in Crackdown after beating it. You could kill cops and pedestrians but that gets old pretty quickly.

Obblivion there wasn't a heap of creative stuff to do either apart from the missions. Looting caves was pretty fun and it was great to steal from highly guarded areas such as castles and prisons. Learning mage spells was great as well and hanging out at the arena. But aside from that, you couldn't make your own fun which is what this thread's about.

Most I got up to was GTA 2. I got bored with the game type after that.
I'd put all weapons on, then make a blockade of cars in a very wide street. Wait for the cars to pile up then see how many a chain explosion would detonate by throwing a nade in the middle.
That or steal a Tank and just drive around being an arsehole.

I did the zombie holocaust in GTA:SA also. Only in reverse, trying to escape the city with no weapons.... good times.

I played it reverse, upside down, inside out. Fun times. It was great with a friend as well playing mulitplayer. You had to make your way to the spawn point to summon them which was just as great. We found many places to hold up like the car sales building. We'd park cars outside and only had a limited amount of bullets.

in gta: sa I love to steal a ramp truck, park it in front of an intersection lined up with traffic, wait for a line up of cars, then shoot at em so they all drve up the ramp and start flying around. it's great when one eventually doesn't make eit and rolls over, blowing up the whole crowd.

I suppose this is a tad off topic as its hardly sandbox but me and a few friends used to play timesplitters:FP over and over again in our own little game called capture the jeep. On the map with all the snow and dam you all try and take the jeep and be the last person in it, no attacking each other unless in, or near the jeep and the only weapons are rocket launchers, homing missles, flare guns and if we're being generous maybe a proxy mine spawn, my god it was the best fun ... im actually going to idiot gamer hell for that arent i, in my defence i was only ... old enough to know better :(
