Hello Escapee's and Escapett's, Now, as some of you may recall a while back we were treated to a live action version of Modern Warfare 2, however, it seems something else has made it's self a transition into Real life, specifically, Killing Floor.

That's right folks, a short, 5 minute fan film called Killing Floor: Dead Silence has emerged, and in the opinion of a fan, is quite good, however obviously they have been working on a shoestring of dosh, so some of the effects are a bit lacking, but hey, this is a fan film, and a good one at that.

Considering this is only Act 1, it's safe to assume that more killing floor goodness is on the way.

So, opinions, thoughts?

I love killing floor, so the vid will either be the best thing since sliced bread, or can burn in hell for butchering the source material.

My internets slow, so It'll take me a few minutes before I can watch it.

*Edit

Watched the video.

Fucking awesome, I want more of it god damn it.

That's actually very good. Managed to get a good grasp of the mood of the game, which is a plus.

God, how I do love Killing Floor. I bought it for 3 people yesterday, just so I could spread the love.
Speaking of which, you still owe me a game...

I just posted so I lost what I already downloaded of the video.. face palm...
These films are apparently going to fill in the back story of the game, also, this was also liked, and linked by the creators, so source material respect and whatnot is in good hands.

I have a friend who'd probably go ape shit crazy if he saw you see this. He can't get access to any digital means of payment where he lives, and Killing Floor isn't in stores for him, and he REALLY wants killing floor. Like seriously wants it. Like "Me love you long time" wants it.

No, honestly! Ask PayJ567 if you must, he was in the game with me.
Both of you, I'm probably gonna be able to play killing Floor on Monday/Tuesday.

We should make this an escapist event. Clear your schedule, do it even if I can not.

I liked it.And I'll be waiting for the next chapter.

You know what would be cool.If the Escapist would sponsor and feature this here.

That would be rather cool, doubtful they'd do it though...

That actually wasn't so bad

For a fan film, the effects were pretty good, and it got pretty intense at some points.

I actually LOL'd at 3:00

A few questions.

1 Why didn't they simply pull out their knives? A Player can outrun a FP all day long. Duh.
2 Why were the scientists so young + bad actors?
3 Was the FP swatting the car scene supposed to be hilarious?

It's actually quite good, the only game I can really compare it to is Nazi zombies, but even that doesn't do the game much justice.

That's where I saw it, however, I figured I might share it with the folks who don't/haven't read blog.

1.Server Mods, probably.

2. I thought the acting was fine, but meh, everybody had their opinions :p

3.I have no clue, possibly, still it was quite funny, perhaps this film could use a little more DOSH! to heighten the effects...

Ok, it's not bad, but I have a few serious gripes that have nothing to do with their technical limitations:

1 - "No. You let me down for unknown reasons despite us running away together! Let's separate now that we're on foot and there's a big dangerous thing behind us!"... Get real. Either give us a proper reason for them to separate or they shouldn't separate to begin with... There's no reason for them to. It just felt like a contrived reason to kill off one of the characters without forcing the other to come up with a way to stall the monster.

2 - Fleshpounds are not the "hulk" guys. There are no absurdly hulk-like muscle behemoths in KF, that's the Tank from L4D. Fleshpounds are very strong, but very strong in the same manner a big top-tier MMA fighter is really strong. Perhaps a bit more, but nothing capable of sending someone flying like that. Strength isn't even their most defining feature. Resilience and the "meat grinders" are. He doesn't pound things into a pulp, he wrecks them with the spinning spikes in his arms. So the whole "shooting a guy against a building like a missile" and "tossing car aside like a toy" don't even make sense...

3 - Know your own limitations... The car scene looks doubly absurd not only because it doesn't fit, but because it's just cartoonishly done...

4 - Why did he stop running? He was tired? His life was at risk. Our bodies are programmed to override such things when our lives are on the line. Maybe if he had ran for several days, but he ran for a couple of minutes. Even if he's not an athlete, he'd keep going. There's only 3 ways you'll react in that situation: You'll fight it, you'll run or you freeze. If you know you can't fight it, when you know you'll die, you'll either run till your legs fall off, or you'll freeze. He ran then decided "fuck this noise, I'm too tired". It's inconsistent. As cliché as it was, he should have tripped, gotten tangled, whatever. The way it happened was just inconsistent.

At the end of the day, it's pretty good, but it's far from masterpieces like Batman Dead End or the Street Fighter one.
