If you would, please permit me a moment of snarkiness. Very easily, I could do it. A bath here, a live toaster there, fairly straightforward. However, the matter of whether I woud want to do it, well the answer to that question is no. Its a bit too early in the piece to guess how bad its going to get.

I dunno. If I was absolutely certain that I was gonna die? Maybe, if the way I knew I was gonna die would be VERY painful, then I'd rather bite a bullet. I'd also be more inclined to take my own life if I got to write a letter or make a voice recording or something to my loved ones first.

Wow, I got depressed from thinking about this... I'm gonna go and try to cheer myself up...

If there is any hope at all, i'd probably go for it, even if i have to sacrifice others.

(or maybe that's just in new super mario bros wii )

Considering that in the situation I probably wouldn't be able to accept there was no hope of survival, no.

I'm kinda like that. I guess it'll be my downfall one day =)

I think so, yeah. Something violent and bloody probably not, since I don't react too well to pain.

As for downing a fuckton of painkillers and vodka? Yeah that'd be easyyyy.

I could kill myself. It would be so easy. I am indeed quite curious as to what awaits me in the next realm. But of course I shall wait till i have experienced enough of this realm as I can tolerate. Another reason for not killing myself is that i care to much about the people around me to hurt them that way. I think i would only kill myself if it benefited others enough to offset the negatives

I'm sure I could...and I've considered it during months of extreme poverty.

I'd hate to put my parents through that though. Life did eventually take a turn for the better, so while things aren't exactly great...I certainly have more to live for these days.

In most cases, I'd agree.

However, my grandpa is 87 and hasn't been able to walk more than 60 feet before needing a break since age 80.

He's kept himself going by way of his brain, making witty wordplays and other such things, but he is now slowly losing the ability to do so, simply by old age alone.

I know he hates it. I know he doesn't really care for life anymore.

I'm not sure I'd actually be able to "help him out" if he asked me to, but somewhere I still have some hope that someone would do him that favor, 'cus as it is now, he's stopped living for himself, and is only living for his family.

Despite the pain it may cause me and the other members of my quite large family, I think we're better equipped to handle the pain of his "untimely" departure, than he is handeling his "timely" one.

If it (the situation) is very grim and my chances of surviving are that low i would kill myself. BUT only if it was quick and painless, or at the very least quick. For example a gun would be easy.

Step 1. Point gun to head.
Step 2. Shoot.
Step 3. Profit (well not really)

On the other hand if it was something messy like a knife or two pieces of chalk and a toothbrush, i wouldn't do it. I would be too much of a chicken.
How do you know step three wouldnt happend? Have you triiiieed?

A long, drawn-out death at the hands of an incurable disease is something I would actively avoid, so if I were to get something that couldn't be treated, I'd go as long as I could before the negative impacts started to set in, and then I'd off myself. But if I was being faced with torture by someone I hated, I'd live on as long as possible just to spite them because I'm a vindictive prick.

No. Never.

Ideally I'll stick around long enough and be so stubborn to die that the Grim Reaper himself will finally have to take matters into his own hands and I'll get the chance to spit into the bastards eye socket for taking people from me that I've loved.

And anyone who would ever consider it is weak, especially soilders in a war situation. Silly n00bish soilders.
Why would soilders kill themselves in a war situation? It's like bank employees killing themselves in... a bank situation.
You mean just off the top of my head? Well how about the situation which was already previously given to you? You know the one you hand waved away?

We have just one chance in this world. One life.. that can be proven in anycase..

Life is the only thing we have which is our own. I'd rather be a brain in a jar than die.
It's not that I'm afraid of it as such, it's just that I don't think there's anything beyond, so why press the off switch early?

You're a long time dead.

OT: In regards to the question; I would go down fighting/resisting torture or what ever, rather than kill myself.
You read my freaking mind.

I come off as kinda cold to my friends for doing this but I have refused to go to a funeral before because the person killed themself. Death before cowardice.
