I like to be optimistic about the death of a dictator, but overall I can't say anything more worthwhile than what's already been said - whoever takes over, I hope the people come out of it okay (North AND South).

Well, fortunately North Korea is a pathetic military force. If he really does rush an attack against basically anyone, he's rushing his own downfall. There's a reason Kim Jong Il never made good on his threats.

Considering the fact that most North Koreans are in favour of their government and are brainwashed slaves - no. I think it's sad, especially because these people never really got the chance to live a nice life - but I have no real concern for them. They allow this man to be in power.

China? Haha. China will not get involved. They may talk the talk - but I find it completely laughable that China would risk trade destruction by fighting the world along side North Korea. China don't need North Korea. If push came to shove and the EU and the USA ended up fighting the North, China would be neutral. They are in it for themselves and would not have their life blood cut off because of North Korea.

Um no. Those missiles are there to counteract the North Korean ones pointed at Seoul. The Korean War has never technically ended, as as the South's primary ally in the war, the U.S. is bound to defend it.

To get to the point: I'm happy, but at the same time a bit worried. Kim Jumg-il has left behind a country with millions of improvished, starving citizens, a massive army, as well as chemical and possibly nuclear weapons. It will be interesting to see how Kim Yong-nam will run the country until Kim Jung-un takes over. Will North Korea finally open up to the world or will it continue to be closed and aggressive towards its neighbors? We better keep our eyes on the Korean Peninsula for the time being.

Yeah, I'll "blast" you by telling you that world politics, especially WAR politics, isn't that simple. China borders the north of North Korea, and North Korea, despite their outdated military, DOES have nuclear weapons. If China were in on it, then the biggest issue would be striking at North Korea in a way so the civilians were not harmed (or, since war is always chaotic, were least harmed). And it wouldn't be a wonderful war either. The North Koreans are taught to fight with such honor and bloodshed that hasn't been seen since the Japanese Empire in WW2, which actually conquered Korea then. So, I understand what you're getting at, and I do agree, just not in that action.
