So the otherwise known as "the real rain man", Kim Peek, died this saturday. There is hardly any coverage of this (unlike the daily lives of celebrity *cough*) so I just thought I'd mention it.

I remember watching that documentary about him a couple of years ago, the way his mind worked was absolutely incredible. Sad to hear he died, sadder still that this probably won't get as much coverage as all those good-for-absolutely-fuck-all celebrities. RIP.

I hope you realize that, regardless of who they are or what they do or how much the media covers it, a death is still a death, and should ALL be treated just as equally.

What a real shame. I didn't even know this guy existed.

Thanks for sharing it, seeing as it probably won't get covered anywhere else due to that Brittany Murphy nonsense...

What he's getting at, though, is that celebrity deaths are not treated the same as everyone else's. A death is still a death, but not in the eyes of the media.

I dont agree, If someone is an utter douchebag his death should not be as bad as someone that dedicated his life towards helping people. Both ways i dont think i'm the person to judge that unless i personally know them but i cant help to feel less sympathy towards Tom Cruise when he dies then this guy for example. Just cause i hate him

Yes...because it's such a shame that Hitler died.

That's so weird. I just watched a documentary about him on Saturday, and I wondered to myself about who was going to take care of him after his father died.

He was truly one of the most amazing people that has ever lived.

I saw the documentary too. He seemed like such an interesting person.

The way he help cure those people of alziemers(I think thats how you spell it) by reminding them of their youth was amazing.

I think it was the same doco.

Hey, the Germans were sad about that. My point still (somewhat) stands.
Still, I don't expect other people to think the same way as a bleeding heart like myself.

Man, that's sad.
I saw a documentary about him once where he could recall what day of the week it was on any date in his lifetime.
Pretty impressive I must say.
Well, it's certainly sadder than the death of Michael Jackson.
Seriously, he sexually abused children and he didn't make a good song in about 20 years so why is he the second coming of Jezus al of the sudden?
/end rant

I don't know anything about this man, but I've seen the film Rainman and find Savant syndrome and a few types of Autism in general to be very interesting, as they show how little we know about the brain.
Does anyone know what "ability" his Savant syndrome gave him?
Anyway, R.I.P

Correction: Suicide. :p

It is a shame to see such a aspiring man pass away though. Personally I wont say I regret his death but life goes on. (Not to sound heartless or anything, I just think I shouldn't lie about my emotions.)

It pretty much made him a human Google... seriously. Just type his name into youtube search, there are quite a few videos of him.

Godwin's Law.
Also it is a shame we couldn't at least try to 'disect' his brain and understand what the hell went wrong with him. Before making him face his crimes of couse

As for the topic,
Blood is blood, death is death. And personally, I'd rather Kim Peek's death not be in the news: remember the coverage of Michael Jackson's death?

So it goes.
