The problem of an ageing population is soon to be a massive problem for Western nations. The retirement of 'baby boomers', coupled with decreasing birth rates, will shortly result in a crisis, and the only way to avert this is to ensure the new generations continue to reproduce in significant numbers. Microsoft, keen to show that they are socially responsible company, have identified the link between the reproductive generation in their West, and how receptive they are towards technology.

Hence, "Kinect".

As if the connotations of 'playing together' and "Get ready to Connect ;) Kinect" weren't enough, Microsoft have finally clarified their stance in their latest mail shot.

Microsoft Kinect - 'harmless family fun', or Western babymaking propaganda? You decide.

A conspiracy theory that actually makes sense. Didn't see that coming. The world is already overpopulated and Microsoft wants to make more children to destroy the world by buying their products. Clever bastards.

haha, I love a good bit of satire; don't see it too often these days since everyone takes everything so literally.

Ok, this gave me a good laugh. But not let's get to the real business: "What's Nintendo up to?"

It's an evil alliance. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.229368-Wii-Remote-Finally-Modded-Into-a-Vibrating-Sex-Toy]

Hardly. Clearly Nintendo is trying to depopulate the world by giving us "toys" to play with. While Microsoft is trying to prevent this trend.

Yeah, it almost makes me wish we had a sarcasm font, but somehow I think that defeats the purpose of it.

Isn't there that sarcasm punctuation mark that came out a while ago?

And this is the most logical thing I've seen in several days. It is ever so clearly a baby making propaganda machine. Microsoft is trying to take over the world again.

This wasn't very good. For one thing, it wasn't very long, and you just had the picture and Kin. The fact that Kinect often fails to work with clothes, and reportedly didn't work on fat people could have been used as additional examples.

Again, a better satire would have more, and more ridiculous claims, as well as being longer. Your OP was just a few sentences, not nearly long enough to set the mood or tone necessary for excellent satire. While it was mildly amusing, there wasn't enough to justify a thread, if this was a comment on a different thread it would have been much better.

I give you a D-, so there's room for improvement.

I don't particularly know what that is, nor do I particularly want to.

I know I know, believe me I've done way better. I just sort of ran out of interest half way through it, but thought I'd post it anyway in the extremely unlikely event someone else beat me to it.

But hey, you have to admit that it was still longer than a large chunk of the Escapists normal news updates! And yes, of course I'll start running now..

Of course there's room for improvement! A D- only leaves room for improvement. That was the most wrong usage of that phrase ever.

Anyway, yeah, waste of a thread.

Ok, there, professional thread critic. If only it had been yet another "What game should I buy!?" or "Which character do you like best" thread. God forbid that there are original threads out there! Since when is length a requirement for satire?
