A couple of years ago I saved up all my scraps of income and purchased an item from KingOfSwords.com, a website which has a mass of awesome-looking items with a focus on game/geek culture replicas. Replica weapons, replica jewellery, etc.
The huge, exciting, very-expensive (for me) item I bought was Link's Master Sword. (Most recent, true-to-form version).
What I got in the mail was not only the oldest, cheapest version but it had been packed so poorly (and the metal was of such inferior quality) that the sword itself was bent. (Or, possibly, it had always been bent and was simply packed that way.)
The sword was only protected by a thin cardboard box, in which had been stuffed a small amount of brown paper - just enough to stop the sword from rattling. The handle was made of poorly painted wood.
Outraged - and bitterly disappointed - I assumed it was just a mistake made by 'that new guy' and contacted KoS about it. They told me I had 14 days to send the sword back - at my own cost - and they would send the sword I was meant to get.
So, at my own cost - in their own packing - I did. I emailed them the cost and the tracking number and asked that they also refund me the shipping cost since it was their fault. They asked which currency the shipping cost was in, but say no more about it.
Weeks pass. It's international shipping, so I give it some time. Eventually (2 months later) I emailed them to ask after it and you know what they said?
The promised refund never arrived. I asked twice more and was ignored.
I kept a record of all our dealings, of course, but who could I go to with it? The recent rage over the Ocean Marketing PR guy made me remember the incident and so I'm wondering - has anyone else had this sort of experience with KingOfSwords.com?

They ignore my retort that I purchased what they advertised and that the packaging was their own.The sword was received back today and it is damaged. The sword is almost bent in half. There was not sufficient packing in the box to prevent any damage, which means that the sword is unsellable. According to the manufacturer the sword that you received is the only version of the Zelda Twilight Princess Sword that they are currently making. If you do not want that sword and would prefer a refund and since the sword you returned to us is unsellable your refund will be for the purchase price minus the shipping and a 20% restocking fee.
