Knife/melee only battles

Most of you will have been in this situation before.
A deathmatch and someone says 'knifes only' it happened in CoD4 with me.
Fair enough you think and you play by this new rule and you have a fun time. then some arse just shoots you to death and defends himself by saying 'I can't use knifes.'
Now i'm not for or against Knifes/meelee only, I only do it when on private server as people have a tendancy to get annoyed when you fill them full of holes, it is fun for a while but then you just go back to normal usually.

One more thing, this is not only applying to CoD4 so share the lore pie from other games.

Seems boring to me. If you had some more melee weapons then sure but only whit knife? Nah.

When im playing privet cod matches with friends we some times play knife only or pistol head shots only it never last too long though.

I shoot anyone I see. I don't play COD4 to stab people. The knife is simply a tool, not a mode. I hated in CS when people wanted to knife only, and I hate it in COD. Someone says "Knife Only!" as I'm hunting them down with an M4, I'll still shoot them. If I am trying to knife them and they shoot me, it was fair game. If you want to knife someone, be sure to see them before they see you, don't expect them to adapt to what YOU desire.

It's fun to go to a private match and play Michael Myers. For those who don't know, it's kind of like tag; one person can knife, everyone else just runs away. Respawns off, first person to get knifed is "It" next round. Or, respawns on and person who gets knifed can then knife.

I dunno, I kind of hate knife only fights in games like CoD4, but that's only because they're instant kills. However if the entire server has decided on it, I'll still play along. I prefer it when the melees aren't one hit kills though.

This isn't about one of my experiences with knifing, but I saw a player in Call of Duty: World at War who was playing using just a knife and I was told by a friend that this player does it in every match. I ccan't remember the players name if anyone has come across him post as well.

i did a knifes only match that turned into like 5 matches
not one person took out a gun. It was simply amazing. of course we would threaten to get kids accounts banned if they even killed someone with a pistol.
they should have a gametype with only knifes.
O and the only knife games i played were in public games no private.

There are much better games than COD if you want melee combat. There is a half life mod called battle grounds (which takes place in the American revolution). There you get a smooth bore musket (single shot 20 sec reload time) and a bayonette, or a sword and a pistol. It is the best melee combat I have had since Jedi Knight (darkforces2). There nobody cares much about being shot.

I believe that knife combat can prove to anyone who is better at fighting, even in real life.

Just think: Who is a better Hunter?
The Hunter who shots at his target? Or the Hunter who can dodge the first Hunter's bullet and finish him with a knife before he gets a second shot?

I am trained in knife/melee combat and I know How to fire a gun very accurately. But I believe gun combat is a lousy solution to "Who's Better?" when the only thing that you've proven is that you can pull the trigger faster.

if more people believed like I do on this, then MAYBE we would have less of these ignorant assholes who doesn't know how to use a knife.

Instructions: The sharp end should be facing your target. Upon contact, apply pressure to the knife via the handle. When target screams in pain and/or Dies, then your task is complete.
Optional: Repeat on the next nearest target.

Ah, yes. I love seeing a Demoman trying to bludgeon me with a bottle.

But then I just pull out a revolver/rifle and shoot him dead for not using one of the best crowd control guns in the game.

In TF2 this happens alot. It's all fun and game until some dick desides it'll be funny to put up a sentry or start sniping or whatever. It's no different then spawn killing, you're being a jerk and ruining the fun.

I did a 'knives only' match of cod4 in matchmaking once. This led to the 'pistols only' round, which in turn led to the 'M40 no-scope only' round, and then 'Noobtube only round', and then 'shotty' round, and at some point my alarm went off...

The plural of knife is knives.

Now that I have that small irritation out of the way, I don't mind "knives only" type combat. There are servers dedicated to knives only in Battlefield 2, and I had a hoot trying it out.

What makes me mad is when a dude joins a server that obviously announces knives only, and they run around shooting people with the main gun. Most of the time, people get banned from the server for doing that, so it's no issue, but come on. Stop being such a griefer.
