Before anyone has the thought to criticize me for not liking Metal Gear, let me just point out that I turned down copious amounts of sex to have so I could spend two straight weeks playing then replaying MGS4 5 times.
The problem inherent, however, was that MGS4 was blatantly obvious in plot devices where the other games were fragmented and subtle, something that required replays and pondering to truly understand. Therefore, I can't play much of Metal Gear with any sense of mystery unless an individual game has enough thrill to play, since the story is now as clear as a history textbook.
Thus, Kojima needs a new franchise. What is important is that it must be similar in the way the story is done. I don't mind any differences to Metal Gear as long as the elements of mystery and thrill remain the same way they did in Metal Gear. Personally, I would like to see him make a film noir-styled game, since it's got the potential for a deep plot, while not being to alienating to the regular crowd.
The point that I'm trying to get to is as follows: What type or setting of game would work best for a Kojima-led series?
