What I'm wondering is if Japan MADE him take a C rating, or if he wanted a C rating for the game...
If he wanted a C rating, then he should have just kept the scene, if he was forced to keep it C, then he had no choice but to remove the scene.

I can't imagine a rating making much difference in sales at this point for the franchise. I mean, anyone who wants to buy an MGS title at this point pretty much already knows what to expect by now. Seems kinda silly really, the kiddies will always end up finding a way to buy it anyway.

Having said that, I'm gonna go ahead and wager the "essential scene" is a flashback showing Snake lose his eye; which if I'm right, I'd argue you could edit out and take the C rating with no big deal given it's already happened in MGS3.

We can still buy Manhunt 2 from GAME. Only Rule of Rose we're not allowed over the pond, which is quite wierd considering it's just the same idea as Silent Hill.


OT: It can't be that important that he didn't go for a D rating, if it was, he wouldnt have let it been cut from the game. Bottom Line: Bit of censorship = more people buying the game.

I keep seeing people say that there's so many cut scenes that a loss of one isn't much.

That's the issue; MGS is a hybrid between Game and Movie so it's just kinda like an important scene being removed from a movie xD

One second a characters alive and the next scene they're suddenly dead/injured.. x.x

Anyone else find it funny that Kojima apparently doesn't have enough pull at Sony to demand that the scene be left in despite the higher rating? I always assumed he was surrounded my yes men based on how self-indulgent his games are.

Sorry Kojima, but this sounds like you need to cry more (or less, rather) to me. Your game wasn't BANNED without the scene. You could have still sold it with a D rating. YOU made the choice to censor yourself because YOU wanted a C rating. That's not the fault of the ratings board, that's a choice you made.

Because I hated that scene, it made my thumb hurt for an hour after, and in the Jap edit they completely broke the atmosphere by making it "C-rated".

Really, do we care about your MSG? I don't really, lost interest after the first one, but that game was epic. Or it's the 2nd one, whichever had the amazing mech-battle at the end.

I bet it was sexual or really gore-like.

Awww, MGS 3 was really good. Very different, but my favorite MGS game. Its prolly dirt cheap now, and the story is stand alone- why not give Kojima a second chance?
