As a single player game kotor and 2 were the best of the star wars games to date. As an mmo, it could very easily fall into the trap of being like every other mmo, but with deadly glowsticks.
KOTOR 2 was awful because they didn't get a chance to finish it. It was still full of half-finished characters and plot devices. Before they make a sequel they ought to finish the one they were working on. Hell...the biggest plot twist in the game was half way through when I realized my character didn't have amnesia (like every other game out there) and was actually just REALLY confused.

I think that, while Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Sith Lords were great games, Bioware (Who apparently are the developers of Kotor 3) should make more original stories, in new universes, in stead of just milking the Star Wars Franchise again. Plus if Obsidian did it again they would probably make a boring story like they did in Sith Lords. Sith Lords was fun but it's almost impossible to play it again because the story was hard to follow and had a very unsatisfying end.

Oh for Christ's sake, it's a trilogy not a clown car.
I have to agree with this statment... Really though who ever said that they ever wanted it to be a MMORPG??? As already mentioned they already did that it was Star War Galaxies! KoToR is a differnt style of game not made for MMO. Now they may make one, it may just be another Star Wars MMO and not a KoToR game at all.

I suggest that you look at Bio Ware and Lucas Arts website for real official info not some crazy person claiming that a game is confirmed but then tells you to google it... that is honest BS!

Come'on people cite your statments! I can't take any of these as facts unless you cite em! So here is what I am going to do cite my statment.

They still haven't said jack! They want to make KoToR3 they may do it they may do something else! All that is known is that Lucas Arts and BioWare are doing SOMETHING together.
wow, you're an angry little prick, aren't you?

I heard Bioware denied the rumour on their official forum. Haven't checked for myself though. But as my friend said they denied Mass Effect too so who knows..:D

Maybe for the first time other than Battlefront you could be a not jedi.
well i think that's the same case for "republic commando" too... but i don't know, i never played it or any of the "battlefront"s
that's the whole reason i play a "star wars" game IS to be able to play a jedi. me happening to be a star wars fan can only take me so far... i'm not going to engrose myself in everything that is star wars, but at the same time i can't deny the impact that was "star wars: battlefront"

In a game called Knights Of The Old Republic??
Well, you'd end up playing until you were level 8 or so in the original KotOR as another class and then multiclassing to Jedi, which I thought was the shiznit. Scoundrel persuasion skills? Soldier health? Sentinel skill points? Who needs party members?
Also, a good portion of JK II was spent in non-jedi mode, and Galaxies has already been mentioned.

[cough]Star Wars Galaxies[/cough] excuse me...

I'll be quite dissapointed if it becomes an MMORPG, because in my experience, the stories in MMORPGs are not the strongest point in the game. You just click the guy with the quest, skip the text explaining what he wants and why and go kill what you need to kill to get it. A good story in an MMORPG is like a gypsy without a caravan, you hardly ever see them.

MMO and RPG are mutually exclusive in my books, and I will only make an exception for Firefly's MMO.
I agree. I've tried to stay away from any MMOs, but Firefly would be great.

Got to agree with the Gyro Captain (awesome name btw, always my favourite character from the Mad Max movies) regarding BioWare versus Obsidian. I would much rather have Kotor 3 done in-house by the BW boys. I never even got as far as the missing ending in The Sith Lords, I think I fell asleep somewhere on the second planet. Kotor was awesome though, I happily replayed it.

I know EA give us all pause for thought, but they apparently have quite a good reputation as far as 3rd party games go. It's only when they make the game themselves that they start killing puppies.

EDIT: I nearly forgot, there have for some time been various rumours surrounding a proposed Firefly MMO. As long ago as December 2006 'The Multiverse Network, Inc' issued a press release stating that they had optioned the rights to an online game based in the Firefly universe. Further news is very thin on the ground, although there are one or two sites about the concept - fireflymmo.com seems the most useful, although as always google is your friend.

Well, that time period in the Star Wars Universe does seem to make more sense as an MMO than Star Wars Galaxies, considering there were an abundance of Jedi and Sith. SWG could never really stick to the true roots of the SWU given the number of Jedi running around getting whacked by Bounty Hunters and gangs of tamed Rancors.

(Assuming these rumors are true...)

So, in this iteration you get to pick what type of Jedi you want to be (Rouge Jedi, Paladin Jedi, Hunter Jedi, Shaman Sith, etc. etc.), instead of having to either learn every profession to unlock a 'force sensitive' slot, or wait until Sony gets enough whiny fanboy emails to finally make 'Jedi' a class. Not sure which is worse...

Regardless, I could care less if Lucas Arts wants to create another MMO, and I could care less if it's in the same time period as KOTOR. It won't BE KOTOR. It'll be what Episode 1 was to Episodes 4-6. An abomination. The only thing Lucas did wrong was to make Episodes 2 and 3. Luckily, if this MMO fails, they might think twice next time.

Since we don't have a real KOTOR 2 (the actual sequel was, IMO, sort of like KOTOR 0.7b) now, not having one released this year is status quo.

Until they announce a polished KOTOR 3 (or a new Tie Fighter Game), in the style that made it so wonderfully entertaining, as a first person, 40+ hour RPG/Action/Adventure game, I'm not getting my hopes up that Lucas Arts is going to develop or publish anything worth playing.
