I recenty bought Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords (or KOTOR II) and I thought it would work easily. I have enough space on my computer for it to work, but it doesn't: whenever I load it, it says that it has encountered an error and needs to close. It also asks for me to send an error report. It keeps on doing this whenever I load it. What should I do? Thank you.

What is your operating system? What are your PC's specs? and have you tried reinstalling?

You could get an old Xbox and a copy of KOTOR 2 for it. That probably doesn't help too much but I'm no computer expert.

Vista or Xp?

Vista- there are a load of threads here on vista: http://forums.lucasarts.com/thread.jspa?threadID=119012&tstart=0

Xp-My PC (xp sp2) did this for KoToR II too and eventually it borked KoToR I graphics too (specifically the first planet random lines kept appearing on the screen or from characters feet etc) despite reaching the spec requirements; I remember like Khell said its something to do with the graphics card. It needs to be...ah damn forgot the thing it begins with g... compatable.

Need more information.

Compatibility maybe? I think the game came out like 2004 or something, right? So maybe it won't run on Vista. I keep my windows 98 machine around for things from like 1996-2001, use my XP machine for everything else.

When you try to install it, it simply won't install? Or it's installed and won't start?
I remember something about a MS32.dll being a problem, and with a simple google I found this [http://forums.filefront.com/sw-kotor2-problems-errors-help/315082-kotor-2-vista-fix-worked-me.html].

Maybe there's some other topics on that forum that you can look for help from.

And while you're at it, you could play the game with mittens on.
Just a recommendation if he's having issues with the computer version...

I know, I know. It just seems like the game wouldn't lend itself to console controls well.
And anyway, he already bought it.
I played KOTOR I on Xbox, the controls weren't too bad. But then again, it was a while ago, I could be mistaken.

I'm biased. I could never get the same amount of control with controllers as I can with a mouse and keyboard.
I'm with you there, everytime I go to my friends house and we play xbox, he kicks my ass at shooting games. He doesn't seem to understand that I prefer using a mouse and keyboard and would kick his ass in that aspect.

is it by any chance a pirated copy?
(than find a working crack)
and a useful suggestion, disable error reporting if it's annoying you
xp: (right click on my computer/properties/advanced/error reporting)

I was getting back into KotOR II recently. I got to the part where you first meet Atris and then the game got stuck in some sort of loop where I had to repeat the dialogue with her over and over. I tried a few times to see if it would stop, but to no avail. I have yet to beat that game. Every time I get into, something happens.

If you still haven't found an answer, try googling it and looking on all the forums you find. Works for me 99% of the time.

Does anyone know how to fix the glitch at the end where all of the plot strings are resolved in one conversation and it just ends with you flying away?

If you're not sure a game is going to run on your PC then I find it best to either check the specs or use this website: http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest

I used it to see if I could run Command and Conquer 3 and it was quite useful. It lists all the aspects and gives a recommendation based on minimum system requirements and recommended system requirements
