KotOR technical problems

Okay so I just got Star Wars Knights of the old republic.Installed it.Updated it. But for some reason whenever the opening page come up when I insert the disk and cliack game, a picture of a space ship shows up like it's trying to start and then doesn't. Anyone experiance anything like this before or have any advice for me?
