Strong story providing excellent background on the ancient history of the franchise's storyline , plus a whole new kind of fun different from other star wars games.
I'd say, since they are both so cheap, buy them all. They're both great games in my opinion.No_Remainders said:Ok. The Witcher for 4 euro or KotOR for 4.50?Acidwell said:The witcher is also good but if you like star wars at all this is the one to go for.
I'll lay down some background. I'm a fan of Star Wars, but I wouldn't be the type who enjoys reading too much into it. I mean, the movies were fun (the original trilogy that is, and I guess Phantom Menace was ok...) but apart from that I don't really pay much attention to it.
I know this deviates from the original post, but in regards to The Witcher, what's the gameplay like?
Yeah, I think what I'll probably do is get The Witcher today (as it's on special sale) and then get KotOR if it goes on proper sale at any stage, and if it doesn't, just get it at the end of the sales.Yossarian1507 said:...Epic snip
I have Windows 7, and it worked fine. I had one bug, when I couldn't approach one container, but that is all. There is an awesome plot twist, the characters are great and some of the speech options are hilarious.No_Remainders said:Probably... I might just get The Witcher instead. After all, I doubt that'll have any trouble running on Windows 7...Nimcha said:Well to be fair I did give up fairly quickly after trying to see if it would run in Win XP mode. There's bound to be some simple reason why it won't work that I'm overlooking.
I'm amazingly lazy when it comes to trying to sort things out![]()
I had a better gfx card sitting around for exactly 4 months before I actually installed it![]()
Okay, well the game itself is good. The story is thick and the characters are pretty real. I'll not get into the story but all you need to know is that you will want to progress to find out more. Each character you come across to include in your party has their own back story and some have their problems. As you play the game with them in your group you can find out about them and improve your relationship with them or destroy it, so if you can get into a game and be immersed then you'll really start to connect.No_Remainders said:Yeah, it is a bit... But still, I tend to take any critic's reviews with a pinch of salt.Sober Thal said:it's an RPG set in the world of Star Wars, isn't that kinda cool? If not, maybe the game just isn't for you.
A very, very big pinch... More of a handful. I prefer hearing other gamers' opinions on the matter, as opposed to people who get paid to review them.
Also, I run Windows 7 and I can run it just fine. I think I might have had an issue at the start with it not running or some such thing but I'm not even sure it happened. It runs just fine all the time with me and I play loads of old games on Win7, there usually is a fix on the Steam forums anyway for old games being played on Win7. That's how I got Fallout 2 to work without having a rainbow colour palette.No_Remainders said:Thanks for the warning.Nimcha said:It's one of my favourite games ever, all the reasons why have already been mentioned I think.
However, when I tried to run it on Windows 7 a few months ago, it wouldn't go past the start screen for some reason. :/
I'm on Win7. Should probably look around to see if that's common or just once off.
Oh frell I just got a new PC with Windows 7, I was going to make a Dark Side, Force Power spamming gunslinger. Won't be happening then.Nimcha said:It's one of my favourite games ever, all the reasons why have already been mentioned I think.

I have windows 7 with steam and I don't have much problems with itNo_Remainders said:Thanks for the warning.Nimcha said:It's one of my favourite games ever, all the reasons why have already been mentioned I think.

Great characters, great story, I really enjoyed the combat. Very satisfying.No_Remainders said:So, Escapists! Your challenge is to tell me. What makes KotOR so good?
PS: Don't just say "It's a bioware RPG" because that's not specifying ANYTHING
well if you have played dragon age or any similar games to it, the combat is very similar, where it is based off of stats and rolls, you do a more strategic kind of command rather than spaztic hack n slash. it has decent enough customization for weapons/clothes/shields/etc...No_Remainders said:Ok. So now that the Steam sale is truly up and running, I'm considering nabbing SW:KotOR for like ?4.50.
I'm just wondering, before I buy, what EXACTLY gives it claim to being the best Star Wars game in existence? I've heard so much about how amazing it is, but nobody has ever really given me a solid answer in the respect of why it is so good.
