In news that are sure to shock absolutely no-one who has paid any kind of attention to Borderlands 2 related news, GearBox hvae finally decided to give us, the consumers, some information regarding the newest addition to the group of vault hunters we all know and love.
It's a playable psycho everyone.

And in line with his inferior canon-fodder brethrens, playing him will require a decent amount of crazy, seeing as he benefits both, from killing an enemy and from being damaged himself, making him a veritable berzerker, able to use guns, a GUNzerker if you will... Wait, that title is already taken isn't it? Bet you feel kinda stupid about that right about now, don't you Gearbox?

His skill trees will either focus on on-kill skills, collected under the title "Bloodlust" which apparently grant you bonus grenade-ammo and damage.
Bonuses for taking damage (Mania) (and the AMAZING ability to be on the receiving end of some nice friendly fire)
And last but not least, the Hellborn skill-tree which grants you the ability to deal extra elemental damage and the even more interesting skill to burst into flames yourself when you set an enemy on fire, which apparently is a skill people would want...

All of this amazing awesomeness can be yours for only 10 bucks. Or 800 microsoft points. Or 2.245678765 orphan souls. Also, he will not be included in the season pass.

They also announced the level cap rise (to 61) will be coming start of April. There's going to be a third playthrough coming with it, and a return of pearlescent weapons. That one *does* come with the season pass, which is a relief.

So... melee character?
"Yay." I do love me some Borderlands but this is just a shitty idea.

Damn right it's a skill people want. I'd light myself on fire all the time if it wouldn't, you know, kill me or at the very least, leave me horribly mutilated. So I have no choice but to live that experience vicariously.

Also, is that dynamite strapped to the business end of his melee weapon? Running around as a blaze, braining and exploding enemies left and right at the same time? Sounds like a jolly good time.

I have THE solution for you: Become a Rammstein band member. They set everything, including themselves on fire all the time.
You only need to know german and to be able to tap into the great primal rage that dwells within all of us and channel that into your music.

Also: Yes, it appears there is dynamite on his saw.

Well, I do speak German, already play several instruments and got a lot of repressed Teutonic anger ready to pour forth.

Eh. Seems kinda late to introduce another character. Plus I've been saving up my orphan souls for a special occasion.

Well, good news for people who want to play through Borderlands 2 again with new skill trees I suppose.

I just hope this makes the boyfriend hush up (he's under the delusion that the Borderlands games are melee based).

Gaige is still the best though, so I'm gonna keep rocking her.

Wait, that just came out horribly wrong.

After how awesome Gaige is (she's my absolute favourite class now), this new character seems like a bit of a miss. Maybe hardcore players that want to make the game even harder would be interested, but that's what I have Anarchy for.

Ah well. Do you think they're planning any more character classes, or is this the last go? Seems like they could have gone out with a much better design, rather than one that looks like an enemy in the game. That coupled with friendly fire sounds like it'll cause a few tiffs.

Something about making a game full of bazillions of guns and then making a melee character just seems wrong.

Also, not included for season pass users? I hope it's out after the 4th DLC then since the season pass gives access to the first 4 DLCs.

Although, saying that, I stopped caring about BL2 a long time ago. It got dull. I felt the DLCs didn't add enough new to even be worth having.

What happened to the old days where extra content was released as a patch?
