L.A. Noire is a "Powerful New Franchise" for Take-Two

Not necessarily it deserves another game. Looking in pre-owned shops already it's quite bleak.

If you took the amount of people who bought L.A Noire because of the rockstar logo and hype because it was a rockstar game it would be quite a large chunk.

I dunno about turning it into a franchise. Yeah, we need more games like it. But franchises too often seem to result in a big brick wall being put around the concept, & I'd hate to see the ideas in LA Noire left solely in the hands of Team Bondai/Rockstar, for the same reason I think the ideas in Heavy Rain/Fahrenheit suffer for being the sole prerogative of Quantic Dream.

Wait... Take-Two? I thought Team Bondi developed it?
Yes, but there's a difference between a developer and a publisher.
But i thought Rockstar published it? I really don't see how Take-Two fit into all this. I suppose i better do some investigating on the internet.

Take two owns Rockstar. Case closed.

Your testimony made for some surprising evidence.

But in all seriousness, wow! I didn't know Rockstar was owned by anyone. I find it hard to wrap my head around such an incredibly successful company being under anyone's thumb, as i can't think of any real instance where Rockstar has made a bad game that bombed. Though maybe when i hear "owned by..." i think of aggressive corporate takeovers, vis a vie EA's takeover of Westwood and Bioware, rather than simply a company or division created by the parent company from the start.

Yay! I loved the game. Cole Phelps is in my top three game characters of all times, and Kelso is making a run for that title as well.

An awesome game.

Good job reading between the line because that's almost exactly what this article is telling me.

Rockstar as it currently exists is the product of an acquisition spree undertaken by Take-Two in the 1990s. They bought a bunch of independent studios (e.g., Irrational Games (Bioshock)) and rolled them up under Rockstar as the publisher. Team Bondi (L.A. Noir) is actually talent that defected from Sony, started their own development company, and now have an exclusive publishing deal with Rockstar. It's a huge hodge-podge. But Take-Two definitely didn't create Rockstar outta nothing. They did it by rolling up a bunch of lil' independent developers.
