Good job reading between the line because that's almost exactly what this article is telling me.TheGoldenMan said:Not recorded: "So, naturally, we're going to milk it."
Rockstar as it currently exists is the product of an acquisition spree undertaken by Take-Two in the 1990s. They bought a bunch of independent studios (e.g., Irrational Games (Bioshock)) and rolled them up under Rockstar as the publisher. Team Bondi (L.A. Noir) is actually talent that defected from Sony, started their own development company, and now have an exclusive publishing deal with Rockstar. It's a huge hodge-podge. But Take-Two definitely didn't create Rockstar outta nothing. They did it by rolling up a bunch of lil' independent developers.Gralian said:Your testimony made for some surprising evidence.Wuggy said:Take two owns Rockstar. But in all seriousness, wow! I didn't know Rockstar was owned by anyone. I find it hard to wrap my head around such an incredibly successful company being under anyone's thumb, as i can't think of any real instance where Rockstar has made a bad game that bombed. Though maybe when i hear "owned by..." i think of aggressive corporate takeovers, vis a vie EA's takeover of Westwood and Bioware, rather than simply a company or division created by the parent company from the start.
