Muller, although I made an absolute mess of that one from start to finish, got just about everything wrong. On the next case (I forget the name) I nailed pretty much everything and five starred it. I guess you just have to be in that groove.

I charged Eli Rooney cos I thought Rusty and the Captain were basically ordering you to charge him since "he was a bigger threat" and that they would be disappointed with me if I charged the man who I thought actually killed her. Thought it was one of those "this is how the LAPD works, Phelps- it's about getting the creeper pederasts off the streets" So I went along with that.
Watershed moment where Phelps sees that police work isnt always honest and by the book but caught up in a lot of politics.
Still got a 5 star rating... and Ive heard other people say they get chastised for this, so that case is always strange to me.

I played through it twice. First charge Hugo though it could have went either way. Second time. Hugo ran I chased him down and arrested him both times I got yelled at for sloppy police work. First time fine it was mess the case would have been hard to prove in court. The second? Come on the dude ran... I had to chase him down how much more concert of a case do you need. Plus I had a witness putting him at the scene. That was when I realized the game wasn't prefect.

Discovered this harsh reality last night when I finally nailed a case perfectly only to discover that the husband was not who the Captain wanted charged. Next time I will take his political commentary more seriously. Love how L.A. Confidential is ALL OVER this game!
Playing through it all the evidence for Rooney seemed circumstantial at best. Moller though had so much evidence pointing at him it wasn't funny. But that silly LAPD and its insistence on charging people they don't like over people who committed crimes got me when I charged the guy evidence pointed to.
eli, especialy seening as unless he is a self employed mechanic why would his initials be on the jumpsuit, and the eli said his were green and had the stencial.
