Ok so I am joining a LARP society here in the UK called Maelstrom:

I have read the rules for character design etc and have come to 2 characters I wish to run with.
A Witch Hunter who uses a 1h saber and pistol or a Ranger who uses a 1h bastard sword and a bow to fight.
I have reviewed several LARP websites where I can buy gear although I am still searching more to help with both ideas.
Basically I am a noob to LARP and want advice from experienced LARP'ers.
Any advice, ideas or personal stories / experiences you can share with me and any other potentials would be really appreciated.
I like both ideas equally but I am not sure which would be easier to play as The Witch hunter will be harder to find gear for to make me look the part but is also a fairly complex character in his own right, The ranger however would be easier but I am not sure how much I can adapt him to working in groups and settlement life.
So yeh any recommendations on skills, equipment and character points would be well received.
