My apologies if there is already a post on this, search bar cleared it even tho usually someone posts a thread on it anyway.

So yes the Room for one mutation (and bot update)
So i was playing the hard rain final and we where all racing to the boat, i jumped on first, stood there for a bit before the final animation of the boat chugging away and up comes the text "XXXXXX was first to the boat" or what ever it was, i was surprised i was clearly on the boat first, and even everyone else agreed that i was on the boat. So apart from the fact that the mutation appears broken, does this seem like the worst mutation yet? here just play the last stage again, then kill each other/race to the boat/car. seems kind of stupid when you can pretty much do the same thing in the standard campaigns, cept you don't get a big sign that says YOU WHERE FIRST.. and i'm fairly sure that you don't really need that to know your first.

Also is it just me or did that bots get stupider after this update?

yeah you play together to survive the final hoards and specials (cause you would get pummeled on your own) then its first to the car/boat that wins

Sorry if i was unclear in my OP

It's just that I never even tried mutations, they seemed just something with no real change to the game.Left 4 dead 2.....I don't know never made me come back.I played all the original campaigns, but it didn't draw me back as much as the first one. That game at least wasn't rushed,in order to get money.

I think that's why you found yourself in that weird situation.

Yeah, I had this problem too. It was really strange, since I was carrying everyone else during the holdout, and I HAD to be the first person into the helicopter, as I saw everyone else lagging behind, and yet I was NOT the winner. It annoys me to no end.

I played it, and if I may speak in very simple terms:

It's fucking LaaAAAAaaame!

Seriously, It's a fairly shitty mutation, pointless becuase, as the OP mentioned you can just get the exact same effect by playing the normal campaing with a bunch of friends, or, greifers.

well the obvious difference is that it becomes competitive at the end which isn't normal. So no its not the same, but yeah it sounds like a lame mutation for a coop game.
I played the chainsaw one the otherday, only reason to play that is to get the tank burger achievement, other than that its not as fun as it sounds, and chainsaws a loud! you get tired pretty quick of having to listen to 4 x 2-stroke engines constantly.

This thread is NOT about which L4D was better (never played much of the first one at all, so i cant say.. Beside the point) And you'll find that most of them did actually bring quite a significant change to the game. Don't bad mouth them until you've tried them.

This is the first mutation that REALLY disappointed me, some have been pretty sweet (rushing though heaps of zombies with blood shooting everywhere is always fun) some where just meh, but this is a bit crappy.

I only mentioned the first game to say that it was simple, and without bugs.

Hint: When nobody is looking, steal all explodables and stash them near the vehicle. And get the grenade launcher. You don't need to be the first when you're the only one.

I think Valve made this a mode is that by picking this mutation pretty much all players know from the start that there will be backstabbing and will expect as much. If you did something like in a regular game then you will piss people off and either get kicked from your game or have a bad player score if this is X-box live.

Kill everyone then escape alone in a regular game.

"Man what a god damn asshole"

Kill everyone and escape in the mutation mode

"Wow he got me good, can't feel bad about an honest loss"

I don't doubt that you got lucky and never encountered any bugs in Left 4 Dead, but brother, they were there. :)

Well, in general, I'm not really a fan of the mutations. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Okay, it might be a LITTLE broken, but I'm still not loving the mutations in general. Maybe that's just me, though.

Haha, nobody is that lucky, l4d had is share of bugs too, any game released now days its guaranteed to have bugs cause they can just rush it out onto shelves and fix it later.
This is still beside the point. If you've never even played the mutations then anything I've asked in OP doesn't even apply to you (well except from the bots).
