L4D 2 is L4D1 with more everything. It is better in every way except the characters. Of course, L4D1 is sure to be on sale for extremely cheap, likely for the holidays, so your budget might favor the original.

Also, hands down, absolutely, no question PC. Valve makes computer games and ports them to consoles. PC has Mouse and Keyboard, automatic updates, free DLC, mods, built in community, better player base, and better graphics. 360 version has...umm...moving on.

Left 4 Dead 2, for PC. easy.
I must really congratulate you on your avatar/name combination. It really is fantastic. I love Tintin.

OT : Left 4 Dead 2.. well depends really. Which do you use more? Do you value modding tools? If you have XBL Gold and friends on XBL then probably that, but if you prefer your PC, or have more friends lined up there then on the PC. Details please!

Shrug. I have both for 360. If I had a gaming pc I'd go through Steam. It depends.

The PC version really has the problem usaully of humongous ragequits, id say a bit lower than the xbox version.
The xbox version didnt patch the current glitch and AI issue though.

If possible I'd recommend getting all fps games on PCs. Ones by Valve at the very least.

Left 4 Dead 2 on PC. L4D2 just has much more content than the original did, and the PC version is better for several reasons. Free DLC, modding capability, a better community and mouse and keyboard controls.

Assuming that you don't want to play with a bunch of friends over Xbox live, I would get L4D2 on PC.

Get it for whichever your friends play on. If they play it on PC get it on PC and if they play it on XBL get it for the 360.

Also which controls do YOU like better? Don't listen to these fucks about mouse and keyboard, it's up to you to decide which you like to play on.

I don't know which is better, but perhaps 2 would be better since everyone will be playing on that.

As presented, it seems like he is torn between which platform to get it on, so we can assume that he has a gaming PC and an X Box, and his preference for both are pretty even, otherwise he wouldn't be asking. I have no doubt it is a great game on both platforms, and it comes to a matter of taste, but if your unsure to begin with, I think PC is the clear winner. Certainly it is a matter of taste, but most people, when they have experienced both keyboard and mouse and controller, end up preferring the keyboard and mouse. DLC has proven to be free on computer, and charged on X Box. Computer has the option of Mods. And I hear more complaints about whiners and griefers on XBL then Steam (My perspective, granted). If you are willing to consider both consoles, then there really isn't anything which X Box has which PC doesn't. But there are a good deal of option available on PC alone.

I'm with the majority, could get L4D for custom content before it's out for L4D2 though.

L4D2 has better versus mode, but I like Zoey better than Rochelle so it's a difficult one.

I'll say something sagely, follow your heart...

Yeah, that should do it.
