Zoey:
Looking at the dead pilot in Crash Course. "Pilots license revoked. Dun Dun Dun!"
In the elevator on No Mercy talking about the zombies running. "I'm calling zombie bullshit on that."
More I cant think of right now.

Rochelle:
... can't think of a single funny thing she has ever said.

Jen Taylor is the Ron Perlman of female voice acting.

She isnt, It is a shame she has less lines but her role on the team as a semi-mother figure to Ellis is a good one.

She has some lines aiming in this direction, and I think there are also some unused soundfiles that aim at this. Binding her laugh to your secondary key is also the best.

In my opinion it's because we know nothing about her, but this is because the game is set when the first meet, so they won't have time to give each other their life story

What the hell are you talking about? Zoey had lots of personality. She constantly tried to keep morale up by cracking lame jokes and sarcastic remarks, and she seems to connect with the other characters a lot. But even if she is a bit more shallow than Rochelle, she's still a better character in that Rochelle is completely unlikable. I can't really explain my main issue with her. She has that kind of useless self centered "do things my way even though I know fuck all about anything" quality about her that kind of pisses me off.

Though honestly the whole cast of L4D2 isn't as good as L4D1. Coach is that perfect combination of badass and comic relief that pretty much all the characters in the first game had, so I suppose he's the exception. Nick is cool but that's really his only characteristic so he isn't very fun, Ellis is a dumbass, and Rochelle is annoying.

They both seem pretty flat to me.
Out of the two, though, Rochelle seems to have more personality.

I am pretty sure they are both only there to fill the roll of "the chick", however.
I think my brother mentioned once or twice that several of Rochelle's lines of dialogue had been originally intended for Zoey, before Valve decided to just completely cut out any sort of plot.
Not sure how true that is, but it wouldn't be the first time someone has created a character simply for the sake of adding diversity to the cast.

I never realy thought Rochelle as abitch, she seemed quite "motherly" when i played. She does treat Ellis like a 12 year old child, and she talks like a mother handing out apple pie when she heals you.

Is it just me?
No I noticed this. I love it when she sushes Ellis.

I must say I liked the L4D1 cast more than those in 2. Not because I'm nostalgic or anything, hell I don't even have L4D, I just play it occasionally at my friend's house, but because I think their personalities were a little better.

I like Nick, his sarcasm I find is pretty funny, but everyone else not so much.

Coach is the basic "supercharged, testosterone fuelled macho man". At least Francis and Bill had reasons (Jailbird and ex-soldier respectively), Coach just seems like he's being tough for the sake of it.

Ellis I shoot. His accent infuriates me. *hyuck hyuck*

On topic, Rochelle just seems bland. I prefered Zoey (And no, I"m not attracted to her) just because I think she's how I'd be in a zombie apocolypse.

I've yet to play L4D2, and its unlikely i ever will as i refuse to pay for XBL now, so all i can give is merely a suggestion: nostalgia to the point no one likes the staus quo changing.

as for character, L4D1 wasn't really, for me anyway, a very deep game, ie there wasn't meant to be much character development was there?

I actually quite like Rochelle now, I've looked back at L4D1 and realised that Zoey was actually a very bland character, with all of her 'funny' lines usually being set up by the two funny characters in the first game, Louis and Francis.

Rochelle on the other hand I actually found to be quite funny as she is a bit of a dick like Nick and so the Two have some very funny conversations if you actually listen to her.

Zoey was a cliché survival horror character. In her profile it states she is a college student who frequently fails tests due to her obsessive watching of horror movies, which actually payed off because it prepared her for the zombie apocalypse. And Rochelle is......well none of the characters from L4D2 had much of a back story behind them. Zoey had a way better voice actor, Rochelle sounded drunk is some parts of the game, and sometimes she seemed really angry, even when I was in a safe house away from the zombies. I prefer all of the original characters over the second games characters, but that's just me.

Zoey is a character you can be proud to play! in l4d everybody always picks zoey, damn zoey stealers.
I like Bill more.

I like Louis and Francis, tolerate Zoey, hate Ellis, sort-of-like Nick, Rochelle I don't care about (seriously, bland character) and I love playing as Coach.

Because Zoey actually has dialogue?

Rochelle has like 13 lines in the entire game with exception to voice commands.

Zoey had alot more.

I prefer Rochelle tbh, all these people are complaining about how she doesn't have as many 'one liners' but your not paying much attention to that the majority of the time anyway. Im usually on expert, whilst on Vent with people, so i dont listen to most of the lines. But im being biased, because on Vent we are adding our own lines to the game, and its far easier to make jokes when playing with Rochelle.
