Oh boy, so exciting.
So, as most of us know, and as some of us care, L4D2's first DLC, "The Passing" is scheduled to release tomorrow, Thursday, April 22. In a recent blog post, the developers announced the addition of Mutation Modes, where they will add unique modes to the game that change each week. I read that they have at least 20 mutations planned. To celebrate and make the anticipation even more grueling, I decided to create a thread in which we guess at what possible mutations to the game-play formula Valve might implement. This is that thread.
Now, since they used "Realism Versus" and "Chainsaw Massacre(?)" as examples, I assume that it's mostly just changing existing game-play elements around, and not really adding anything new, but that's fine. It's still hard to guess to what extent Valve might switch things up, but here are a few of my guesses.
I'm hoping that one of the mutations forces the survivors to use melee weapons only, but maybe increases their power a bit, and removes the shove cooldown. I dunno, that could be fun.
Maybe they'll also switch it up for the Special Infected players. Like, a mode where they can't use their main attacks, but their secondary claw attacks do 4x damage or something. They'd have to balance it, though, so the Charger isn't overpowered. That might get frustrating, but still...
Oh, perhaps a mutation where they switch the Survivor and Infected character models? That might take too much work on Valve's part, but it would be hilarious and awesome. Tank as Coach, Spitter as Rochelle, Smoker as Ellis, and I dunno, Hunter as Nick? Vice versa for the Infected side, except there's not enough models for all the Infected, so I guess that wouldn't work...
Anyway, feel free to post your ideas, or ignore this thread if the topic does not interest you.
