L4D2 : Unable to find servers.

Recently 3 of my freinds got hold of L4D2, and we have been slowly making our way through the missions. However, recently it seems to be unable to find any Official or Dedicated servers atall, meaning one of us has to host ourselves and it can be quite laggy at times when hoards attack...


We have tried at various times of day (Everything form 8AM to 1AM)


Main thing i wanted to know, Anyone else had this problem? Or is it just really damn busy?

I noticed a decrease in populated games from when I first got it, which is to be expected. But I haven't noticed a decrease in official servers themselves. Of course, I don't know if their US and British servers are one and the same.

The issue is on Valves end, or to put it another way they fucked up with the last update the 'open server browser' option does not list servers anymore. It will only list favourites or history servers but won't list internet or custom servers. You have to join either through the favourite, history, via a friend or via IP.

We've had similar issues with dedicated servers except that, instead of telling us it couldn't find one, it'll just stop loading sometimes. We usually have to ctrl alt delete out of the game...

Did you also notice that you couldn't access the internet either. You would get what looks like a standard not connected to the internet page? It's just Steam used to be very good at causing my old router to crash through trying to make too many connections and what you are describing sounds familiar. It isn't an uncommon issue thankfully 30meg fibre brings with it a much better router so it's no longer a problem for me.

I tried by myself earlier today and they seem to be back up now.

me and my l4d team have stoped playing for awhile due to if we can find a good game it crashs or does not load, i have no idea whats up
