LA Noire: Am I doing it wrong?

So I've been playing LA Noire recently and I've found it's difficult. Stupidly difficult.

So difficult that I'm about to trade the game in.

I'm not blaming the game completely, seeing as the gameplay relies on my people-reading skills, but I'm on Traffic, and I simply cannot seem to get my interviews 100% spot-on. Either because I misread something altogether and picked "Truth," or because I'll see how nervous and fidgety my subject is, pick "Doubt," and then watch Cole make some stupid assumption like "DONT LIE MRS JOHSNSON I KNOW YOU MADE ALIENS COME DOWN FROM NEPTUNE AND KILLED YOUR HUSBAND" that'll fuck up the whole thing. I feel like I'm not in control of the character when he goes on those wild assumptions, and I feel stupid when I have to use Intuition in order to narrow down my options.

Is this game just not for me? Or do I just have to keep playing in order to learn it more? I don't really wanna think I'm too stupid for this game, but by the same token, the "Doubt" option should have been split into two or three other options. As it stands it's too damn vague...But anyway, have you guys had trouble taking on LA Noire? Any tips, perhaps, for a newb who's probably been lied to his entire life due to his horrible people-reading skills?

Yeah, I'm not a fan of how Cole can go from calm to "I'M GOING TO BREAK YOUR FUCKING JAW!" and back to calm again in 3 seconds either. It seems a little odd to me.

Anyway, back on topic, the only advice I can give you is watch the suspect you're questioning for about ten seconds after they've answered a question, then see if you can pick out the right response. Lame advice I know, but still it's helped me out a little, although I still fuck up now and then. I just suck at evidence finding, though. :p

Just do what I do [http://guides.ign.com/guides/14249693/page_3.html]

Sorry for cheating, but I have OCD, and I cannot play a game like this without 100% doing everything right. Besides, I still feel super smart when doing this, so I guess if you really wanna stick thorugh it, this is prefered.

Oh, and it gets harder, I wll say that. But once you get to homicide, it gets fun.

Don't worry so much about choosing doubt. A lot of the conversations actually end up being either lies if they're fidgety or truths if they're not. I've beaten the game and it comes down to just getting used to the exaggerated movements that people make when they lie, the less exaggerated for doubts, and the really slight movements if any at all for truths. Also keep in mind that you only really get 20 intuition points throughout the whole game, so you shouldn't blow those if you can avoid it.

(also you can always back out of a lie if you accuse that, so you can hear what Cole says before you produce any evidence which allows for an easier time dealing with the fidgety ones)

Honestly the best thing you can do if you screw up a convo is to quit, then reload the game from the menu. DON'T RESTART INVESTIGATIONS, IT'LL KICK YOU BACK TO THE START. I had to do that twice before I realized what it was doing to me.

You know, I just now realized that "Lie" is always a chance to bring up evidence. I've always backed out of these however, because like with "Doubt," I'm terrified of Cole's conclusions. I look through the evidence I gather and I'm just unable to connect the dots the way he suggests. I just need to look harder and investigate more, I guess. If nothing else, this is definitely a game unlike any other; I don't even trust what the main character's been coded to do!

No, the interrogations in LA Noire are notoriously unfair.

Just keep going even if you get them wrong, you'll still stumble through the story.

Or you can just quit to the main menu if you fuck it up and it'l restart you just before the interrogation.
