I recommend portal 2 if you enjoyed the first, but if you want more content go L.A. Noire.
Both are well worth getting.

Both games are more than worth the money. I will say that Portal 2 is not as long as LA Noire. But neither are games that I would ever fault someone for owning. Note that LA Noire is a VERY dark, graphic, gritty storyline, while Portal 2 is a much lighter, more humorous story.Gunjack65 said:Alright so I have just finished my years exams and have decided to purchase myself a game to reward myself.
Chances are I shall get both of these games at some point but I just wish to know what is considered better.
A bit about me: I have enjoyed the other games from rockstar a lot (especialy Red Dead Redemption) but I have also enjoyed Valve's Half Life series and Portal.
Which should I get?
I didn't. I got it for $35 on release day. But not everyone has that option. Or caught the sales.Bags159 said:Why'd you buy it for $60?meganmeave said:I'd go with LA Noire. More content, better story.
Portal 2 is excellent, but not worth $60. It's more like $30 of game.
I haven't played LA Noire and don't plan to, but does it really last 20 hours? That's how much time I've spent on Portal 2.
That's why I say go with Portal 2. They both have about the same amount of playtime and about the same degree of re-playability (not very much) but I would go with Portal 2 for one very big reason:viranimus said:Id say LA...
If your purchasing today to reward yourself, should you reward yourself with more content?
I really do not get the point of buying Portal 2 right now knowing its less than 10 hours of content. 60$ is pretty high for 5-10 hours of content in my mind.
According to the Sunday paper, Best Buy has Portal 2 for 30 this week. Might save you a buck while you save up for LA.meganmeave said:I'd go with LA Noire. More content, better story.

Pretty much what this guy said. I mean, they are in completely separate genres. I've played through portal 2 about 4 times because I like it so much, and I NEVER usually replay games. This is the only game I have that has more than one, and heck, more than two playthroughs. It's definitely worth checking out if you like dark humor and interesting puzzle mechanics.sravankb said:It's hard to compare, really.
If you prefer puzzles, awesome humor, and a more gameplay-oriented game, then get Portal 2. You probably know about Portal's style of gameplay and humor. The sequel improves over those in almost every way. I say "almost" because the single player is far easier than the first one.
If you prefer a very story/character-heavy game, then get L.A. Noire. The detective work can get a bit tedious, though. Especially looking for damn clues - that's not being smart, it's just random searching.
