Ladies: How often do guys hit on you online?

I really despise these kind of people who make my gender look bad. I would probably already be looked down upon as a Muslim Pakistani and these people make the other group I belong to hated as well. And I do none of the things these groups are hated. I don't even talk to girls in real like or online unless it is about work/studies. Why are all things I belong to being targeted?

I'm a guy and I never really gotten why some people do that. I think I see a pattern where the person is somewhat immature. We have a player in our guild who gets hit on all the time which is hilarious because she alwase plays with her boyfriend while this is happening, It makes for some good laughs.

But the reason I don't get it is it lacks personality a kind of face to face conversation knowledge that makes it seem

I think one of the main reasons that guys try to flirt with "gamer girls" is that they find the idea of a girl who plays Black Ops or MW2 (Halo, whatever you want) so out of the blue they are surprised. They also find the idea of a girl who plays games so damn sexy they become obsessed, since they are addicted to the game themselves. On topic (ish) I get it the other way round. I even met my gf playing minecraft. Just a random meeting on a server though. Weirdly, I once had a guy (I'm assuming he was gay) trying to hit on me. Fortunately I then lost my internet connection. Still, I never try to hit on girls online, just the occasional sandwich joke, which they usually laugh at.

To be fair, I don't 'have' skin cancer anymore. They carved it out of my back. Which wasn't especially fun. The scar still hurts every so often.

Anyway, there isn't any reason to not joke about it. I got a really awesome scar out of the ordeal, and an excuse to become a hermit. Which I like. Alot. More on the scar thing...I actually have a class D security license (Which is basically unarmed Security Guard level), so I just tell people the scar is a knife wound. Which isn't really un-true...a scalpel is a knife. I think.

welp, might as well say it. I flirt/compliment every girl who comes on line. Why, because I'm winning. I've turned many female xbox friends into facebook friends into sexting friends . No really I have.

But also there's a lot of women who don't want to be hit on while she's trying to knife someone in the back. I've been told to 'shut the f**k up' on more then one occasion. Of course I don't, which makes them see my love for commitment, and women like that. lol.

But I have a great friend that I met on RE5 games, and me and her have really grown close. She's in TX now and I plan a trip sometime soon out there. Fingers crossed everyone!

when my brothers are playing call of duty online all i can hear is people yelling about "bitches" and "hos" and blasting their misogynist hip-hop (i'm not saying all hip-hop is, but they always play the bad kind :/) and insulting each other's mothers (seriously, pretty much every hour i hear this)

in any case, i didn't meet any girls whilst gaming online. i know my fiance plays online a LOT, but i met her through a dating site (half-counts?) she can recall ALWAYS getting teased and trolled for it.

I got pretty heavy surgery myself and the scars occasionally bug me, so I guess I can relate enough to joke about any surgery. Horizontal cuts on both sides of the ribcage, around 3 inches long. But hey, they look bad enough that girls feel sympathetic and I probably look like I was stabbed by a claymore straight through the body (close, but it was actually a titanium bar implanted to correct the sternum, still have that thing, too.) At least I didn't wake up until a few hours afterwards, in the ICU, in so much pain they had to take the painkiller applicator button away from me. I just found it really funny to hear 'feel brighter' when a melanoma is black.

I don't talk about my sex in game though so it doesn't happen too often. Men aren't too bad, straight couples on the other hand never take the hint.

I don't understand the "hitting on girls over the internet is pointless! It's not like you'll ever meet her" argument. So, the only point to flirting is meeting up and having sex?

I think it's great craic. I mean, it's only annoying if you're bad at flirting. And the only way to get better is to practice. The internet is like a virtual social arena, where unlike real life, if something goes wrong you can just hit the "ignore" button and it's like nothing ever happened.

Well, as a male, I can certainly defend the guys. I don't see what's so wrong with them looking for relationships online. They might just want to make a better attempt to get to know the girl before trying to start something.

Nothing, but there are other sites for that. Girls who game online most probably want somewhere where they can, y'know, game, online, without having to worry about guys trying to pick them up. It's irritating and it can be creepy. Girls have just as much right to game without being harrassed (yes, having guys trying to pick you up against your will counts as harrassment) as any blokes do.

I can see the reason to for guys to seek out girls that game. Since many others don't really accept it as something worthwhile. They want to get with a girl they want to game with them, instead having to choose between them. Yet being overly creepy and or annoying is uncalled for and makes it harder for her and yourself.

As a matter of fact, my "Just being nice", default form of social interaction is, I am told, actually flirting.
So, in that respect, it seems that I flirt with everyone.
