-somehow she can't dress in anythign to make herself look attractive...
-I'm getting tired of the attention whore.
-Not sure how it could possibly mean that but whatever. It did call attention to it so I guess it did its job, see thought above. It's how she makes a living. Being noticed.

On a serious note, I think all of this is really interesting. I think it comes down to where you're coming from musically, and where you're going. And I mean everyone.

When I grew up, grunge was 'in'. I never got it, I never dug the whole pretentious "we're not about image just the music even though we're all wearing the same flannel over the same long underwear, ripped jeans and greasy looking hair". It turned me off so much, that still to this day I hate any hint of that same view. Taking it all too seriously. I grew up and discovered early punk (before THAT started taking itself too seriously), X-ray Spex, Devo, Bowie, The Dolls, and for me, Gaga is a refreshing change of contemporary music.

Some people however have been turned off by the over the top nature of pop music at times. And to them, Gaga is a step in the wrong direction. But you see, it's all where we're coming from and where we're going to. Maaaan.

I really don't know much about Lady Gaga. All I know is that her music sounds like shit, so I don't pay any attention to her. However my brother absolutely detests her. He knows a lot about the music industry, since music is his passion. According to him, Lady Gaga just wears these outrageous outfits for attention. She's not really insane, she doesn't believe any of the messages she is sending. She just does this to get attention without actually having talent.

Is he correct? I'm tempted to believe he is since he knows more about the music industry than I do. So I wouldn't pay attention to any bullshit message she claims to be making with her weird outfits. It's just a marketing gimmick. And I suppose it is working wonders, since a lot of people talk about her because of these outfits.
No, it's not true. She's actually a very talented musician, but I think she sold out after her singer-songwriter days. She's much better than 90% of the pop music out there, and just because your brother and you don't like her music does not mean she isn't a talented musician. I'm not a fan of Beck, but I have to admit that he's a musical genius. Not that Gaga is a genius, but you get what I mean.
OP: I think you people are taking this way too seriously. This is fucking hilarious.

Does the homosexuals in the US Army have to go to war dressed as meat? o_O
"We've got some dead meat over here!"

OT: She's a perfect example of an attention whore. I'm just saying my opinion.
What's the next thing she's gonna do? Wear a dress made out of wood to represent how the coloured Americans were treated before the civil war? She makes no sense at all.

I've been looking at the pics all day.

I found a new favorite image.

Thank you Gaga, you mad, sexy goddess.

I really doubt this is supposed to be charged with symbolism. She wore a suit made of meat because it fits her stage persona, then she said it represented something baffling for the same reason.
You know, I made this thread to see if anyone could work out just how her dress symbolised what she said it did.
I think you just got the answer.

trying to withhold my gag reflex. Considering the hours that meat has been out (day time heat and Body warmth) ...it can't possibly smell right if the thing is real >.<

I haven't seen it, but she just gained some awesome points in my book. She's still a negative there, but she's closer to 0 than before :p

What nonsense is this? I'll say, Lady Gaga is one of the most successful trolls in human history, PETA will soon come with the rage of a thousand suns.

So....

The US Military treats homosexuals like something that after properly prepared and served ends up giving them a "deliciagasm" in their collective mouths?

What's wrong with that?

Soooo... Lady Gaga wore a dress made out of raw meat to the MTV Awards.
She said it represented the way homosexuals are treated in the US army.
Um, any thoughts?
The ***** ripped off The Key of Awesome...
she didn't really rip it off, I think. And anyway the key of awesome is probably happy about it.

Well, yeah she's pretty much a *****, don't really know if she's dumb or not, but clearly she has no problem looking like a lunatic in front of the entire world just to get people more interested in her music. I heard that Alejandro song or whatever one time and by God did it sound familiar (maybe a little plagiarism on her part. I actually don't even know if she writes her own material or not). Anyway back on topic: meat suit? Really? is this what the music industry has become? A parade of select freaks who don't know how to attract the public in any other way than shocking them? Screw that. I'm sicking with the oldies. This generation really has issues if they acclaim Ms. Uncooked Beef and Justin What's-his-face.

IMO she did it purely for the shock value. If nothing else, Gaga understands that image will carry you far further than talent can alone.
