Hello and welcome to the sixth installment of:
[HEADING=2]Your First, Your Favorite and Your Least Favorite![/HEADING]

This is where I pick a series by random, sort of, and tell you which ones, if I have played any game in the series, was my first, is my favorite and my least favorite. Then you tell me which ones are your, well, you get what I mean.

As the title so clearly says, this week it's:
[HEADING=1]Metal Gear Solid[/HEADING]

My first one was Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
When I played it, I was amazed by how great this game is. I'd only heard of the MGS series, but never played a single game. While I'm not much for stealth games, this one surprised me by how good it was.

My favorite one is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
I liked just about everything about it. The music is great, gameplay is good, the plot is amazing and the characters are well written. I loved the Beauty and Beast boss battles, even if they were a little creepy when just the Beauty part was left to beat. Overall, it's a great game.

My least favorite one is Metal Gear Solid 1.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying it's bad. It's just that, I've only played the first MGS and the fourth, so it was one or the other that would end up in the least favorite part. I don't blame graphics for being slight inferior to MGS4, I mean, my favorite game is FF IX, which is on the PS1, and I love the villains and the characters. Just about the same thing that applies to MGS4 applies to MGS1. I just can't really say what it is that makes MGS4 better. Maybe it's the ending to MGS4. Either way, MGS1 and MGS4 are both good games, just in my opinion, MGS4 is slightly better.

As usual, this is not a thread where you can bash others for liking or disliking a certain game. So please, keep your hate either to yourselves or to your least favorite game.

My first was Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, which immediately made me a fan of the series, despite the ridiculously over-the-top cutscenes that are pretty out of place for a Metal Gear game.

My favourite is Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. I just really like the Cold War setting, the great boss fights and the storyline.

Assuming the pre-Solid games also count, my least favourite installment is the very first: Metal Gear. And I'm not even talking about the crappy NES port but the MSX version. For some reason, I just got annoyed at many of the game's aspects and due to some glitch the Hind D boss became invincible and caused me to be stuck at that point forever. Its sequel, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, is definately worth trying though.

My First is Metal Gear (Nintendo) circa 1990.
Good times. Very simple yet extremely innovative for the time.

My Favorite is Metal Gear Solid 1. (Playstation)
Again, good times. Still rather simple, but it had the bonus of brining Nintendo's innovation to life in 3D. I always felt like I was in danger, and I always felt like I was infiltrating a complex. The plot got out-of-hand at times, but it was still tight enough to be enjoyable.

My Least Favorite is Metal Gear Solid 4.
The entire game doesn't make sense, at all. The gameplay is all action...

My first was Metal Gear Solid 2
It was great, but it wasn't until MGS3 that I got hooked on MGS.

My favorite is Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence
Epic game, amazing story, great bosses, with a better camera.

My least favorite is Metal Gear
I dunno, maybe a little too old for my taste. I couldn't get into it.

First: Metal Gear Solid. Back on the ol' PS1. Easily one of the best games on that system.

Favourite: Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Defintely my favourite. A cracking set of environments to sneak about it, fantastic characters and a poignant plot to go with the already brilliant gameplay makes this one of my favourite games of all time, let alone of the series.

Least Favourite: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. This is a good game. However, it gets kind of dull quickly, and the story is slightly tired by the time this game finishes, so it gets my least favourite accolade of the Metal Gear Solid series. Still, I like the way it tied the series together.

My First:

METAL GEAR SOLID

This got my hooked from the second I played the demo. The stealth, the plot, the weapons the open areas. It still stands as my favourite PS1 game beating Final Fantasy by just a squidge (That squidge separated by Yuffie and her intrusive sub plots, annoying attitude, and the fact she STEALS ALL YOUR MATERIA AND THEN PUTS THEM BACK IN A RANDOM ORDER! Honestly, I don't give Barret Magic, so she gives him all the summons? Sheesh, takes another 20 minutes to sort it all out again)

My Favourite:

METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SUBSISTANCE or METAL GEAR SOLID 4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS

Both great with such boss fights that will shake your entire mind and some of them even making your blood curdle ("LET ME HEAR YOU SCREAM! HOWL! ROAR! FROM THE VERY DEPTHS OF YOUR SOUL!" or even just the Sorrow... the sorrow...) combined with great on rails sections to blow your mind. Although MGS3 had the most amazing final boss battle that ever lived, MGS4 had REX vs RAY, and if you understand that, you'll know why it was awesome. Plus a great Final boss as well.

My Least Favourite:

Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops Plus.

Adds nothing to the story by not having a story. It was just for multiplayer and a Pokémon style Catch all the comrades, which was good in MPO, but in MPO+ proved less to be about stealth and organising units and just about Multiplayer.

Calumon: Jack says I shouldn't play it, and I don't really want to. I still need to finish Digimon World.
