It's not often that I hate a game that I've never played, but this is one of those times.King Kupofried said:Radiata Stories, the human-side ending.
The Silver Dragon, one of two dragons that perpetuate a cycle that wipes out the human race to prevent them from advancing too quickly, becomes empathetic towards humans and prevents the arrival of his counter-part in order to stop the cycle. In order to do so he is forced to sacrifice a girl, Ridley, who would act as a vessel. Thus saving humanity from utter destruction.
No that's not the ending. The ending is that Jack, the main character, throws a hissy fit and kills the Silver Dragon, because of the girl he sacrificed. Who is this girl? Someone Jack loves? Sister? Childhood friend? Nope, a girl he was a knight recruit with, who spends much of her time being very abrasive towards him, that he doesn't even see much of. A completely hateful and bland character.
Does this accomplish anything? Bring her back to life? Save the world? No, she remains dead, the Silver Dragon already saved everyone for you. All you accomplish is killing an ancient and empathetic creature of unimaginable wisdom and power over a girl that nobody likes. Woo.
I actually liked it. An end, that's actually an ending.Count Igor said:Fallout 3. I think we can all agree on that. (No DLC)
And thus a reason why it's lame. The entire story to begin with was half assed story telling and in the end you don't know if the old one is put to sleep and will awaken again one day because of the stupidity of man, or what you're doing is an endless cycle where you yourself have to continue doing it. All you see is you char walk away from the kingdom. Not to mention all the hype up of the Old one thinking there was gonna be some giant epic battle between it, where the ending boss is just a metaphoric blob of a king being nothing but a shell of himself because of his greed. After all the hell I went through in the game I a real ending not just subliminal crap.bismarck55 said:Way to miss the point. That's not the ending, there is no ending. Demon's Souls is more or less Groundhog Day as imagined by Lovecraft (the best way I can think of to put it). It doesn't matter how many times you seal the Old One, you will always be brought back. The nexus is Hell, and you are trapped there for eternity.twistedheat15 said:Demon's souls was even worst then fallout 3. All you do is walk out of the kingdom... That's it, no back story or praise just "thx you can go now".
Final Fantasy 8's ending was terrible, nothing but a bizarre acid trip through a plot that made no sense to begin with. Although if you prescribe to the "Squall's Dead" theory, it's pretty cool. Otherwise it's just opaque and confusing visual noise.Fozza said:Haha! I can consent to a certain degree though after I had played Mask of the Betrayer I wasn't very dissapointed at the original ending at all.JamesBr said:Neverwinter Nights 2. Rocks fall. Everyone Dies. All done by a bored narrator over slides. It's insulting that my 20th level characters would be so easily defeated. Although it alludes that they escaped to a different plane, I still feel ripped off since I'm not playing that game, I'm playing NWN2.
Otherwise I think that the Prince of Persia: Warrior Within had the damn worst end ever as it did not matter what you did at the end since they said at the begining of the sequel something like "You know what happened at the end of the prince's journey? It didn't happen at all, it was like this instead." What where they thinking?
