Hot off the presses[footnote]Obviously this isn't the biggest sports site, but when he was stripped of his Titles, there was a semi-lengthy thread about it.[/footnote]:

Lance Armstrong plans to make an admission about doping in an interview with Oprah Winfrey scheduled to tape Monday at his home in Austin, Texas, a person with knowledge of the situation said.

In the interview, which is scheduled to air Thursday on the Oprah Winfrey Network, the famed cyclist plans to admit to doping throughout his career but probably will not get into great detail about specific cases and events, the person said. The person spoke to USA TODAY Sports on the condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to speak publicly about it.

To me this just seems like a giant publicity stunt, I don't think he's remorseful or anything, especially not toward the people whose lives he tried to ruin.

Until I hear it from him directly, I'm not believing any rumors or anything about what will be talked about.

Honestly, I don't see why he would. He's spent thousands of dollars (possibly hundreds of thousands) fighting these very charges. There is no actual proof against him; just his word against members of his team (unless more has come out that I'm unaware of). These are unscientific but every poll I have seen asking "Do you think Armstrong is guilty" is usually slightly for him; usually about 55-60% of people stating that they believe he has NOT doped. I sincerely doubt he needs money unless he pulled a MC Hammer...

I personally think he's going to use this as a "Final Word" to state that he is innocent one last time before saying "Fuck it" and biking off into the sunset. I suppose we'll see soon enough...

I still think he just stopped denying it because he was fed up with people harassing him over it. Just like how Buzz Aldrin has stopped talking to people calling him a fake and started punching them.

"Plans to admit..."
I see some irony in this wording. Anyway, I really can't say whether this would be a beneficial move for anyone. Unless Lance really was doping and wants to get it off his chest. Otherwise it just seems like a 'final say' publicity stunt that's only going to remind people of how sad this fiasco really is.

So it's going to be the standard "American celebrity salvage operation", i.e. going on American television with pope Oprah to cry and weep about how much of a moron they've been.

Whose lives did he "try to ruin"? Even if he was doping, so was damn near every other cyclist in the race at that time. That's partly why these allegations have persisted so long, Armstrong's rivals were caught doping, so people get suspicious and doubt if he could beat cheats while being clean himself.

This so much.

I mean, how many years did cyclists numbers 2 thru how-many-ever wound up testing positive for doping and he wasn't? I think somebosy here posted the years he competed along with others that competed and finished below him and when they got caught doping in a thread similar to this. Seriously, if anyone thinks Lance Armstrong wasn't doping all this time, they are deluding themselves. The main reason he was never caught was because he kept winning.

If America's fetish towards athletic idolism is any indication, it's no wonder he was protected for so long.

I can't believe that people still think he is innocent, and i don't think this is the right way for him to admit doing it. He should answer to the cycling boards, not a chat show host.

You know what's funny . I just realised i never seen anyone get punched . I live in Canada mind you , so public violence is rare .

This video made my day. What a spineless bastard, calling the second man to walk on another planet a coward.

ot: I wouldnt be THAT surprised if Lance was roided up but i dont really care either, hes done a whole lot of good with his charity and cycling is/was(not sure on this one) so rife with drugs they may as well make steroids mandatory

Anybody who tried to accuse him of doping. He did his best to financially ruin them through the courts and various suings, and his team would harass people who accused him, on the courses
