I'm looking for work / studying laptop and currently I think that Asus Eee PC would be best for me. Mind you that I don't intend to play games with it.

I'm looking for following features:
- Lightweight (I'll be carrying it around a lot)
- Small I don't want to carry separate computer bag.
- Good performance (I don't want it to die on me when I open big pdf. files)
^ Can run Microsoft office packet (and OS) with ease
^ Quick start up (don't have time wait for it when lesson begins)
- Pirce tag < 600 ?
- Good battery life

I think we can get started with these. So what would fellow Escapists recommend for laptop in study use? I hate laptop mouse so I'll be buying mouse with my laptop so feel free to recommend a good mouse. For a reference Microsoft Sidewinder fits perfectly into my palm.

I don't know how Mac and PC exchange files so for the sake of group works no Mac machines please (plus I'm such a PC fanboy that apple makes me see red).

Yep, going for a higher-spec netbook seems best to me, too. I'm a bit out of the loop so I don't know which one to shoot for specifically, but I'm sure some browsing around and looking at reviews will get you sorted.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ62 and it runs like a charm!!!

Features/Specifications
15.6" monitor
2 GB Memory but upgradable to 8GB
250 GB hard-drive
AMD Processor
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250
Runs Windows 7
Is very lightweight (I carry it in a computer case in my bookbag)
It cost 380 dollars + tax USD
And the start-up is quite decent
I can use it during my three hour long class and still have plenty of battery life when done,
I can multitask on it quite nicely too.

Well, there's my recommendation, I hope it helps!

Looks good to me, but Compaq computers I've worked with earlier broke down in a few years due to poor material they were made of? Any that kind of problems?

Nope, I've had no problems thus far.

Try looking at Toshiba brand netbooks.

A netbook sounds perfect for what you're trying to find. Their small, light, compact, efficient, and don't come with anything you don't need.

Toshiba has a good habit of making their computers sturdy and not skipping on things like screws or glue so that way they can save a few cents with each computer they make. They've got some excellent customer service too.

Toshiba? I thought that company dealed only in geothermal energy pumps and stuff. Well, live and learn. I'll be sure to check them out. Thanks for the tip.
