Pretty much title says it all. My brother just got a laptop and it just won't load anything that has to do with the internet. I pinged google.com and it pings fine he has internet access it just won't load the pages. I have done everything that I know how to do to try and figure out the problem but nothing has worked.

Any ideas?

Windows 7? If so, is the network location set to public? If it is that might be your problem.

Whos is your isp and check your DNS setting against them, you could also try googles public DNS. http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/

Also try the above post. also is it a new laptop or 2cnd hand as there could be proxy settings in the browser.

Try a different browser e.g. firefox or in itnernet explorer go to tools>internetoptions>advanced then hit reset at the bottom of the page. Good luck

If the browser doesn't load the pages, it's a DNS issue. Ping isn't really a reliable way to confirm a connection issue. use telnet (command: telnet www.google.com) Not sure if I spelled telnet right..you can look it up.

Try to reconnect your connection, disable/re-enable your adapter, reboot the computer, remove the battery for 30 seconds....if all else fails, call your ISP.
