As some of you probably know, one of the few games series that I rfuse to say a bad word about is Forgotten Realms, and that of course included NWN which I didn't like at first but the love sideplot caught me by such surprise that I had to respect it and play it a million times.

One of the other few things that I think have nary a flaw is laptops, I don't even own a PC.

Now here's the crux of the debate. NWN2 does not necessarily support laptop graphics. I hired the game some time ago and it refused to work on the basis that my graphics card had the word "portable" in its name, despite the specs on this little baby being more than ample.

Is there a way around this? But more importantly, is it worth the trouble of finding a way?

I imagine NWN2 as a kind of beautiful spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate 2, rife with intrigue and mad lootz. I may be idealising it a bit, but is it worth all the hassle?

I didn't find the official campaign for NWN2 all that interesting or fun. Its first expansion, Mask of the Betrayer was a quality story though, so I'd recommend that. I couldn't really get into the second expansion either (slow, dry, weak story). Overall, I vastly prefer the original, mainly for multiplayer and the single player modules available. That isn't to say that NWN2 doesn't have good mods, because it does.

Unfortunately, I never tried playing it on a laptop, so I can't help you at all in that department.

Usually games just warn you that your graphics card isn't "suitable." You can get past most of those. If not, sometimes you can hack the game's files in order to allow the game to launch.

And yeah, I've got NWN2 and its two expansions installed in this laptop right now. It runs well off of my 8400M G at high settings, no shadows at 1024x640(which looks well in the context of the 14.1 in display).

EDIT: It's a great game. Aside from the lacking engine stability, I'd say it's better than NWN 1. MOTB is especially good, though it suffers from a lack of party members in comparison to the core game's campaign. (Let me say, Khelgar is the shit.)
