This simply does not compute. How many people do you know who actually give a toss about Ms Croft being a British creation?

Make it "Stephen Fry Street" or I'll keep complaining. In a really high-pitched voice.

Bad idea. Nobody could cross it. Because nobody crosses Lara Croft and lives!

All I'm saying is you gotta have nothing on the street, becuase if you do, there will be tunnels leading to everything from the street and people will be stealing for no reason. They should go with Nightingale, it sounds cool, and the lady helped with the medical stuff. I'm also liking Rolls Royce.

EDIT:
What would they specifically call it
Lara Croft Lane, Lara Croft Way, Lara Croft Road?
^Consonance sucks, ^Best bet, ^ That sounds original(/sarcasm)

Sigh, Tomb Raider was never even that good, why not name the street after someone who actually deserves it rather than a fictitious character who's main role involves stealing price-less artifacts for no real reason other than shit and giggles.
...Making her a metaphor for the British Empire, and then you wonder why they want to name a street after her?

Croft street would be good. Lara Croft street would suck beyond all recognition. I hope they keep it to a sensible homage.

this should excite a lot of people. it shows a growing acceptance of gamers among the general public

BUT

i doubt that any serious gamers would want it to be named after what seems to be regarded as one of the worst gaming franchises around. maybe it should be called portal street? that's a game everyone seems to like.

i don't know, my ideas are starting to get all mixed up. make what you will of what i have just said, i have no idea how much sense it makes. now if you'll excuse me, i need some sleep.

Surely there are better people to name it after than Lara Croft? They mentioned two. Nightingale helped found a freaking hospital which has probably helped thousands to live. Rolls Royce helped employ the town. The inventors of Lara Croft have help thousands of nerds get boners. Should there even be any competition?

It would only make sense if the road was poorly designed and whole parts would fall into a pit the moment weight was put on it.

Nightingale has about a hundred or more roads named after her. Rolls Royce... not so much, but it feels really weird to me naming a road after a car manufacturer.

Lara Croft is an iconic character; almost anyone with any proximity to games during the late 90s onwards knows her name, form, and what she does. She's had multiple movies and it's relevant to the town.

She may not be a great character, as our resident reviewers have pointed out many times, but a "Lara Croft Rd." wouldn't be all that bad, to be honest.

Facts are, the UK game industry brings a lot of cash into the country and gets so little respect from non gamers.

However, I think Croft Road has the meaning without sounding 'wierd'

Anyone who thinks Florence Nightingale was a good person should see this....

Ok im all for it, but it that town, as described, there was Florence Knightengale she was a nurse on the front lines of WW2 and she is much more deserving of a street named after her, then a FAKE big boobed archeologist. Just prioritise you know? most important to least important.
