Largest game quality to voice acting quality difference?

I'm just curious. What game do you think has had the biggest difference between the quality of the voice acting and the quality of the game itself? Either a crappy game with amazing voice talent or a fantastic game with cringe-worthy voices apply equally to this thread. Just, which game do you think had the largest quality gap?

Personally, I'm going to have to say Fable 3. It was a mediocre-at-best game, but the main voice actors(aka not random villager #57) were just insane. I mean, your brother, the king that you are trying to overthrow, is MAGNETO. Theoden is your best friend/mentor, John Cleese is your butler, Tia Dalma and Simon Pegg are helping you in said revolution, Cassandra aka face-on-a-stretched-out-sheet-of-skin from Doctor Who is the creepy blind seer, Gandhi is a bomb-hurling midget, and STEPHEN GODDAMN FRY.

I would totally play a game in which you and Reaver do nothing but trade witticisms and have fancy parties. WITTY fancy parties.

It seems the OP's meaning of voice acting quality simply means the famousness of the voice actor, not the actual quality of the voice acting. Game I've played with the best voice acting ever went to The Darkness. Not just Mike Patton, but everyone else in the game sounded perfect for their roles, and voiced them wonderfully. If it wasn't for the voices, that game would have been nowhere near as emotionally immersive (SP?) as it was.

Worst voice acting I've heard was from....hmm, nothing now that I think of it. Maybe Just Cause 2. But I tend to not play a fuck-tonne of games, so the ones I do play I like so it's hard to think of one that made me think the voice acting was incredibly forced and flat.

Witcher (and Witcher 2 in a less sever extent) come to mind. While the game is deep and complex and overall great fun, the voice acting is absolutely horrible.

Guh, I didn't mean it to come across like that. All of the people that I mentioned have amazing voices, particularly the voices of Logan, Jasper, Teresa, and Reaver. Mostly Reaver. I just listed them like that so people could recognize who I was talking about.

Some one already beat me to Deus Ex. A lot of really terrible Chinese accents in that game. Hopefully I don't have to explain why there's a contrast between that and the quality of the game ^_^

Just Cause 2. The game is pretty amazingly fun. The voice acting is laughably horrible.

Just Cause 2, great game, horrible voice acting
You guys don't like BOW-LOW-SAN-TOE-ZEE?! :p

Actually I have to agree. Her voice acting was so bad that I focused on the missions for the other two factions and avoided her as much as humanly possible.

Deus Ex also came to mind, but people already said that too.

So I guess I'll add a new game to the mix and say Heavy Rain. Decent enough game, absolutely shit voice acting. Press X to Jason is a great example, as is "Nomin' Jayden". And of course, the cop who gets mad and just randomly shouts FUCKIN ASSHOLE in an attempt to sound angry and threatening.

Deus Ex: Human Revoloution has some of the worst voice acting I've ever come across in a game. The asian accents are borderline offensive. However it is a remarkably brilliant game.

Human Revolution gets a free pass because bad asian accents are a tradition for the series.

i didn't find the Voice acting that bad in HR. Except that Jensen seemed to sound like he ate cigarettes instead of smoking them

I'm going to go with Oblivion. :D

"STOP RIGHT THERE, CRIMINAL SCUM!"

[sub]It haunts my dreams...[/sub]

(Because I was going to go with Deus Ex: Human Revolution.)

Humourously enough, in the comic tie-in that came out a few months ago there was a line about how is augmentations were automatically correcting all the damage cigarettes did as he was smoking them. You would think with that kind of technology that Sarif would be able to rectify Jensen's voice a little as well.

True Crime Streets of L.A.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0378918/

just look at the IMDB page for the actors who did this game. The game is not overly terrible but imagine how rad a movie with these guys would have been.

Alex Jensen: played by Christian Bale with throat cancer.

I also nominate the Metal Gear Solid series. All of it. You can go either way depending on personal opinion.

I disagree on Deus Ex. Sure, the Voice Acting was some of the worst ever, but if you look at the rest of the game without rose-coloured glasses you'll see that the rest of the game is also very rough. The graphics and shooting mechanics were both well below par, even for 2000.
Don't get me wrong, the game is fantastic! But it was also had a lot of poor aspects, voice acting being just one.

Voice acting doesn't ruin a game, but great voice acting is a tremendous enhancer. The VA in Bioshock added so much atmosphere and colour to what could have been a middling shooter with literary aspirations.

Terrible? RE5 leaps to mine, although the script didn't help. Reaching back a bit further, Perfect Dark was abominable for what was an otherwise fun game.

I would have to say pretty much all of the Tenchu games. They're great fun, but the voice acting is hilariously bad. They kinda took the piss out of it themselves when they added the "B Side" dialogue option to Wrath of Heaven.

Indeed while the game is a classic the dialogue is a bomb.

If I said Batman someone who didn't play the game might have thought I meant Adam West. And I don't want to disappoint anyone.
Memo to self: Start petition for voice acting in Deus Ex: Human Resources sequel. "I never needed augmentation to improve my physique. *taps chest* Pure West".
