So, fellow worshippers of Escapism, do you have a last.fm account?

If not; why not?
If you do, what are your habits on it? Do you use the social features, or are you just a chart-fetishist?

Personally, I bloody love the tag radios and artist recommendations, and it's always fun to judge someone based entirely on 5 or so bands they listen to.

(For those not in the know, head on over to www.last.fm and bone up on the fun-lovin')

I have done!

But if you're implying that this thread is useless...

...then you're probably right. I'll see what participation is like and make an executive decision based on that.

When I first found out about it I thought it was the shit.

But since you can only listen to a full track 4 times, I stopped giving a shit -.-

Dear me no!
I just wanted to alert you of this, in case you didn't know.

And there are threads with lesser discussion value

Not that I'm pointing any fingers... *cough* [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.164729]
Well thank you!

And it's threads like that which make me feel better about my meagre contributions. God bless the internet.

No. I've never really wanted one, mostly 'cause I don't know what they do.
I should look that up.

doesn't this count as blatant advertisement for another website?
Maybe. But I'm not an employee, plus I figured everyone already knew about it (which may have been a bit too optimistic).

ALSO

It seems a lot of people got disappointed with last.fm when they realised there was a limit to the free music you could get from it. This is quite odd, because I never really saw it like that; I just enjoy having a profile where I can obsess over study my listening habits (they're a lot more interesting that you'd think!!). Plus I've made a couple of friends on there.

I joined last.fm way back when it was still Audioscrobbler. Religiously scrobbled up until I started college.

I use it, if I'm ever interested in how many In Flames tracks I've listened to, it's an easy way to find out.

I'm actually quite surprised at the general ambivalence towards last.fm

Maybe I should turn this thread into pure advertisement, get a few more people fighting the good fight...

[sub]I jest, of course[/sub]

I will say that, if you like music, you should give it a try though. It's free!!

[sub]Ok, maybe a little advertisement, but it's for legit purposes[/sub]

I think so..I mean, there's a module on my profile. Disabled scrobbling, though. My sister occasionally uses this computer and I do not wish to appear like even more of a fool.

I've had an account for a while. It's a bit messed up though, it's showing Mustasch as one of my favorite bands, with like 1,5k listens. I don't think I've ever had a single album on my PC, and I don't like the band at all.

I do find it interesting though. I like seeing how my musical tastes have changed over the years. Funny to realize that my "favorite band", or my "favorite album", hasn't actually received a good listen in six months.
