It's a modern version of everything I love about RPGs, with exploration, sidequests, collecting and a good story and characters. I don't know how to explain it, but it has a classic tone to it as well. That may just be the cutscene and gameplay divide or cliches, but there's just some charm there a lot of modern games don't have. Like cutscenes being a reward for playing rather than an annoyance.
