With all the latest consoles truly settled in now and busy breaking various game-shaped chairs over eachothers backs, titles from the past are STILL going down in price, having realised that the world thinks of them as being increasingly 'meh'. But - *GOOD NEWS* - this is an extraordinarily happy turn of events for those of us with light wallets, as countless classics, underappreciated and otherwise, are sinking ever lower towards the bargain bin, meaning one can pick up all manner of games for either nostalgia or new experiences. XII and ZOE- timelessly awesome and forever filling up pre-owned shelves, both purchased in working condition with manuals and no apparent wrongness for £1.99 each! *gleams*

Their lifespan is short in this age of uber-graphics and explosions like supernovas, but for these pricetags who can complain? Only today I purchased the fine-and-dandy Killzone for another 2quid. What is that money? 2 bags of chips? A taxi ride down the road? Bah! Give me timeless huzzayness anyday.

What this long post wishes to ask is as follows: surely I am not the only happy sailor exploiting this situation?

Ive been doing that lately with XBOX 1 games that are backwards compatible with the 360. Its nice because can pick up classic games for $2 and the 360 will render (not just upscale) the games in pillar boxed 720p/1080i (black bars on the sides) if they were originally 480i giving much better visual quality then the original xbox could. XBOX1 games that supported 720p play in widescreen like they should and get additional gfx boosts from antialiasing, and some cases improved draw distance

THe only problems, is knowing ahead of time if the game is supported in backwards compatibility. And some games have sound problems, mostly hick-ups like effect in voice overs

My 360's been acting fussy, so I dusted off my PS2 to compensate. Now I can by all the PS2 games I was too cheap to get back when they were popular. The last game I bought was Brothers In Arms: Earned in Blood for $10.

Plenty of PS2 and PSX games coming in for play on my PS3. Got to love them. Still pick up GBA games every now and again.

Why pay $60 for one game when you can get upwards of 3 games for the same cost?

Oh since I got a PS3 I've been having fun with that "backwards compatability" - I'd like some way to transfer save data from my PS2's memory card (maybe need an Adapter or something) to the HDD but so far I'm having fun buying these used games and playing the shit out of them.

Then there's games like Persona coming out.

Yeah, last-gen is awesome. The Wii is also GC backwards compatible but right now I've played my GC games and all the other ones to death.

Oh an it kinda goes without saying but I'm still playing 2D games on my PC lol. I just recently put Diablo 2 back in.

I still buy games for last gen consoles, but I'm reaching the end of my "wanted list" (an actual list that I wrote out, because I could).

I'm just kicking myself for missing out on that Metal Gear Solid collection....

But yeah, a lot of awesome PS2/Xbox and even gamecube games have fallen to the $10-$20 price range up here in Canada, and I for one am loving it.

I recently upgraded my PC (replaced my FX5200 with a 7600GT and got an extra 1GB of RAM, making it a grand total of 1.5 GB of RAM), so I've been able to go out and buy games that are dirt cheap but awesome, like Far Cry.

I agree.

Most of the games I'm looking forward to aren't coming out until a bit later in the year, so I've been enjoying the low prices of last-gen games.

Perfect example: yesterday I picked up Kya: Dark Lineage for $4.99.

I still play games from 2 generations ago on the snes, but as for last gen, I primarily look for "old" playstation 2 games and "new" computer games, because I pent so much on a gaming computer, might as well get the best out there

Anybody else rockin the purple lunchbox(Gamecube)???

Quite a few simple, yet fun games I have recently picked up.
CoD2:Big Red One, A simple yet fun and emotional shooter, one of my favorite games on Gamecube.
I recently got Metroid Prime and have been playing it. Kick ass.
