Alex gripped his fists, making the leather of his gloves squeak and scrunch. "And it's not just me. My comrades have similar powers, but my job is safeguarding lives first."

"I don't know. Maybe the other Rangers trusted us because we assisted them more than once in their own duties. Or, it could be that the spirits of these creatures chose us because we are whom they see as worthy of their help."

- For the record, I'm basing some of this RP's design on a game called Geist: The Sin Eaters [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geist:_The_Sin-Eaters#Archetypes], which is based off the World of Darkness RPG.

When people die in this game, they have a chance of being taken by a Geist, a powerful spirit that lives off the body like a parasite, but grants the host life after death, minus the soul.

And, these geists come in five flavors, based on the cause, or in some cases, near cause, of death:

* The Torn - The Torn are called the Bleeding Ones, and the victims of Malice, and they are those who die from violence.

* The Silent - The Silent are called the Starving Ones, and the victims of Neglect, and they die from deprivation, such as suffocation, starvation, and heartbreak.

* The Prey - The Prey are the Eaten and the Drowned, and the victims of the Elements. They are those taken by the wild, from exposure, animal attacks, and drowning.

* The Stricken - The Stricken are called the Ravaged Ones, they died of disease, illness, or poison.

* The Forgotten - The Forgotten are called the Lightning-Struck, they are victims of random chance.

Alex held his defensive stance for a time, then looked over his shoulder once. He hadn't bluffed anything, but he knew what was coming.

"Sorry, but that chance to discover will never be granted to you. Plus, my time here is nearly past. I can just as easily flee this forest as I can brawl. Neither I wish to do, though."

"Hmm. Then, it seems we have a stalemate." Alex said, not shifting his own tone. "Now, who gave you that power you mentioned?"

"I beg to differ. No one knows soul thievery by legacy alone." Alex replied.

"I knew it. Kiva." Alex thought.

"Then, tell me, what name do you go by? Enlighten me. I am, after all, the one whose world you've come into. But first, my name." Alex took a pose. "Alex Bismark. Black Mythic Ranger."

His scene was then followed by what felt like an explosion behind him. Turning around, he just missed it, but cocked an eyebrow anyway. "Well, that was awkward. Never seen that before."

"hello? is there anyone here?" he asked the wilderness, not realy expecting an answer other then the wind brushing the tress...

"Lucky for me, then. I've survived seeing Cthulhu's sculpture in an art museum, so a few names in Ederich tongue shouldn't be too awful."

A beeping from the morpher then got his attention. "Well, my time is through. My team needs me. Just remember, this isn't your world, Patrilicous. It's mine." With that, Alex focused the essence of his spirit animal into his legs. The shifting took place, and in seconds, he was gone.
