trust me, some people are like that, but the majority of people (well, at least those I get to know) are no assholes, so I doubt that it has anything to do with the fact that you tried to talk to them...
also, it really sounds wierd that people do that, if the age you entered (21) is truthfull...

now, regarding your problem:
I had similiar trouble close to your age (7th to 8th grades, so maybe when I was a bit younger), and I can assure you that I understand its not a nice place to be in...

I trully think that opening up a bit (to the right people of course, not the guys who curse you for talking) can do wonders to social interactions. I know its not the best advice, and probably insanely hard to actually follow when in the given situation, but thats what helped me, so Im pretty sure its of some use...

anyway, I find it true that liking/not liking weather is as a result of "the neighbors grass" effect, so what you find to be an ugly type of weather, another person might see it as though the gods themself decended on earth, and have blessed us with the weather from the heavens

I did once had a dream, in which I was just sitting in the park at my town eating cottage cheese (and I hate cottage cheese), so that was wierd, but never a nightmare...
