actually I got 8 hours of sleep and I didn't savour it, also excadrill kicks all kind of ass took down a legendary 6 levels higher then him in 2 attacks:

<-this is excadrill
and at then end the enemy pokemons are higher level then yours (unless you grind) so you have to fight smart.

and how exactly does it affect gameplay?

gameplay changes:
1. TM can be used infintie times
2. only 3 HM
3. two new battle mods (only got to try one of them once so far)
4. useless moves have been made useful
5. all new pokemon are worth training
6. battles are made more dynamic by having the pokemon have moving animations and damage is done instantly rather then slowly and the camera moves around
7. the elite four can be fought in any order
8. THERE ARE USEFULL BUG POKEMON!!! and even a extremely powerful bug pokemon
9. lower level pokemon get more exp from defeating a higher level pokemon
10. leveling pokemon has been made easier (but it still takes time)

well I mentioned it when Clown had the DIG music video up but it doesn't affect gameplay but it does explain why he has a really high speed stat.
