I'm kind of paranoid about the new U Torrent version. I know i'm probably looking into it too much but since hearing about this ACTA thing or whatever it's called, can someone just clarify for me? Cheer ;)

And merry Christmas folks.

I would like to see them launder this through treaties in Canada, the US sure. But I bet if there are to be a few countries that hold out Canada will be one of them.

You just have to look at current Publishing rights of US film makers in Canada. There are no random disconnects for downloading media online other than people hitting bandwidth cielings. Try as they might US distributers have little rights in Canada.

Dont get me wrong. I see what they are trying to do.

But as people dont take desktops across borders often, or atleast I dont, I dont see how they are going to enforce this.

The only issue with the ACTA is the ISP provisions (which they are readily using already in the US, as I have found out a couple of times personally) but again this is where I am not worried.

Unlike the US nowhere in the current ISP service agreement (at least my ISP) does it say I cannot download unlicensed media (unlike my US ISP accounts). At the end of the day this will come down to the ISPs who no doubt lobby the Govt. themselves and wont be happy about the US (which you know is pushing all of this) trying to infringe the rights of their Canadian users.

This is all my opinion though. I have read many articles and talked with many people on both sides of the isle. But the big unpredictable is to see what the ISP does? Right?

Ok, so what is it specifically that's making people nervous about the latest utorrent version?
