The same as lots of other gamers out there, I've been spending an obscene amount of time this week playing Gears of War 3. And as with many games in this generation of the industry, there's never enough time to iron out every single wrinkle in the code before launch. One advantage with current systems is the ability for the developers to provide updates to their titles; not only to provide extra levels or content, but to also fix anything that gets brought to their attention. This is, in the writer's opinion, a very big step in console games.
However, I just had a glitch yesterday that I might not want fixed: My friends and I wound up playing Horde Mode in a party of 9 players. I'm going to spell that word out just to emphasize:
Nine. Players. In Horde.
I don't know what happened, but I'm hoping that maybe Epic put in a hidden feature that every once in a while mixes up exactly how the Co-op modes work online. We played all the way to Wave 41 before the connection was either lost or the game was closed by the host, with a grand total of five deaths overall. There wasn't enough room on the map for anyone to be in any danger, which might not sound that fun, but the threat of failure was replaced by a panicky need to get the kill before one of the other 8 soldiers around you. Even Tickers were prime targets for us.
Ever see five guys all stand around to chainsaw kill the same Locust grub at the same time?
Thanks to the wonders of programs-gone-wrong, I have. And I am grateful.
Anyone else have something amusing happen? Please share any good examples of glitches you've come across.
