Mysterio from SpiderMan 2.
he's holed up in a coner store and says "you'll NEVER beat me!!" then his triple-decker health bar shows up. you naturally try to get the first right hook in, only to find out that it's the ONLY right hook. being that Mysterio is the "master of illusion" he embellished his HP bar and only had 1HP to his name.

"You'll NEVER beat me!"

*health bar, HEALTH BAR, HEALTH BAR*

*falcawn... pawnch!*

*hogtie*

*call the Five-Oh*

*leave.*

gotta admit, it was a pretty cool way to break the fourth wall-- i mean, he EDITED his own stats, just to mess with you! that's like a step under Colonel Campbell telling you to shut off your PS2. (and at 0300, after a whole day of gaming and little food, that one was pretty damn convincing)

The one in Gears of War 2.

All you had to do was hold down the right trigger for 12 seconds. Thats it, then it just simply dies.
Indeed, really left a bad taste in my mouth. The first was really good, death around every corner but two was just YOU ARE SO BAD ARSE AND UNSTOPPABLE!!! The ending bosses for the games just sum them up for me. 1 = Hardcore, 2 = Twat fest.

You never got stuck on
The second fight with Riku?
I always found him impossible on my first playthrough. That said, when I was on my Expert run I started giving Sora all the Power Ups he would ever need and more I found the entire game easy (apart from the beginning).

OT: Simpsons Hit and Run doesn't really count, but the Big Bads simply sit there and do very little to stop you simply blowing them up over the final three missions...
I've always been pretty good at games like that and I also played the Kingdom Hearts games on the easy setting, hell with the exception of trying to figure out how to kill certain bosses, I almost never died in God of War...Hmm I think I just figured out what I wanna do today...I'm gonna replay KH1 just out of boredom
If you want to make it difficult, then do what I'm doing:
- Only basic weapons
- No accessories
- No power-up items
- No offensive abilities
(on Expert, natch)
I might have bitten off slightly more than I can chew actually :L
yea i did that by accident cause i was new to the kingdom hearts so i ran though both games with out changing my equipment

It was already mentioned, but Demon's Souls

After the awesome fight with Old Allant (assuming you didn't range him to death), you get stuck with Floppy-Fish Allant. Man, after all the awesome bosses that game had to offer, it ends with that? I had to punch him to death with own two fists, just to make the fight seem less pitifully one-sided.

Uncharted 1 had a guy with a oneshot sniper and cheap-ass aim. The strategy consisted of trial-and-error cover-taking followed by a QTE.

The guy from Fable 2.

All he does is give a speech and then dies after you shoot him once.

WTF!?
Oh yes this!

I was like "you killed my sister prepare for the fight of your life- BANG- uhh...I win?"
It almost made me want my time back!
I was very disappointed.
Ditto, it was awful!

The one I made for my game. I had to make a boss out of a vat of bleach, and I got frustrated so I just threw something stupid together.

Maybe Oblivion, after all, we all know how that fight goes.

On reflection probably Rayman 3

Andre has just employed an infuriating flying beast of doom to bring you down, and then it's one button press and he's down, on the other hand I was glad I didn't have to go through another ridiculous fight so soon after

Bioshock 2, THERE WASN'T EVEN A FINAL BOSS we just had to fight waves of Splicers and Alpha Series' until you escaped. Lamb didn't even have the nerve to fight Delta herself. But of course AScreed II was just a huge turd.

Fable2..Wow you shoot an old man in the chest..my first thought was can i get my time/money back now please?
Gears of war 2: Wow..you fly around holding down a trigger...How climatic. Must have taken a whole 4 seconds to come up with that sort of thrilling idea.
Bioshock: For such a great game Frank was a push over. I beat the game on the hardest setting without taking more than a few hits from him. I was expecting a bit more craziness.
Borderlands: I know it isn't a final boss but the giant flying creature spawn monster. The game hypes it up as some kind of amazing fight that will push you to the edge. Then you sit on a cliff with your buds and shoot him for a few minutes until he falls over without ever taking damage. Its like they never even tested the boss at all.

this thread already exists, but fable 2, there is no main story boss, unless you count the shard mini boss, and no final boss at all, you just wait, and he dies.

I know it's been said many times before at this point, but I feel the need to reiterate; Titan Joker from Batman: Arkham Asylum. It's incredibly lazy because it's not really a fight with the Joker. It's more like an endurance challenge with the various small-fry baddies you've faced over the course of the game, with the option to hit the Joker once in between rounds.
In fairness, a straight fight with the joker would have been yet more dull. 1) because the Joker isn't as physically powerful as the Batman, and 2) because, much as I love the game, the combat controls would not be suited to a boss fight. Just keep countering.

EDIT: Do most games actually need bosses? (Arkham Asylum kinda did - there are supervillains, so they needed beating. And the Scarecrow sequences remain among my favourite video game moments of all time)

EDIT 2: Bugger, stolen pixels/Extra Punctuation already did the 'do we need bosses' thing...

8 bars of health (same as sephiroth) and this shit. a disappointment if i've ever seen one
