The world is coming to an end.

I just played a few rounds of Castle Crashers online with a child who was probably around 10. He was not whiny, he was not crazy. He was fairly calm and collected, not yelling about anything or singing. He didn't swear or make racial or homophobic slurs of any kind. Sure he was a bit strange, but all children are at that age. Not once did he even raise his voice. He was just a pretty relaxed kid. It was a lot of fun.

Anyways, while still reeling from this experience, I thought I would ask if anyone else had ever met someone that completely blew the stereotype? Like a guy who dresses like a goth, talks like a goth, but when you talk to him he is interested in advanced physics and plays games competitively.

All the goths I know play games, while not competitively like tournaments, they're very avid gamers, and a few of them are really smart in academics.

To me, that's PART of the goth stereotype.

One of my best friends dresses like the stereotypical goth. All black and chains, eyeliner, outrageous hairstyles, obscure band t-shirts. The first time I saw him, I thought he was going to gut me like a fish.

Thing is, once I got to know him, I found out that he was the biggest Sonic the Hedgehog fan this side of the Mississippi. He owns every game. He's seen every episode of every cartoon. He refuses to believe that Sonic Unleashed won't win game of the year. He even got all the Achievements for the 360 version of that crappy Sonic the Hedgehog game that came out in '06.

To say the least, I didn't see it coming. o .o;

According to my friends and teachers, I'm a very happy emo who is often class clown. I often play with all right kids as well.

I have to say, I generally dislike fanboyism, but sticking to a sinking ship due to some childhood fancy is actually quite admirable, I hope he enjoys the game, and considering his love of the subject matter, I'm sure he will.
