Okay so I checked the searchbar for something like this and didn't see anything (if I'm wrong feel free to correct me), and I realize that its probably covered somewhere in the guideline, but I always see people asking how to embed a video or post a picture (which is what I did until someone taught me). So here I've decided to try and help some people out by making my own little tutorial for it.
Remember anytime you see parentheses '( )' you're going to replace them with brackets '[ ]' in actual coding.
Well I hope this helped somebody and feel free to ask any questions about how to do other things and I will try to answer it as best I can (unless someone else beats me to it).
On a side note I put this in off topic discussion but I'm not entirely sure if that's the right place for something like this, it just looked the least wrong.

Now say you want to post this youtube video here,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnoaj8b2bGM
All you have to do is copy the part after the 'v=' highlighted here in red,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnoaj8b2bGM
Then you type out (youtube= and put in that chunk of the URL and a closing bracket.
The end result being this (youtube=pnoaj8b2bGM)
(highlighted for your convenience)
The end result of this when used with brackets is the video you've been dying to post.

This ones actually really simple, you simply copy the URL on the (fullsize) image seen here,
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_5-KMDSKfYUM/SNAhBVci_uI/AAAAAAAAADc/2j9k6a2cFuU/s400/awesome.jpg
And put a (img) in front of it and a (/img) behind it.
which should look like,
(img)http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_5-KMDSKfYUM/SNAhBVci_uI/AAAAAAAAADc/2j9k6a2cFuU/s400/awesome.jpg(/img).
Putting the brackets in gives you,

Putting the brackets in gives you,
It should go without saying but for the newer people I'll mention that spoilers are always appreciated for condensing enormous pictures or walls of text, or maybe even actual story spoilers.
Spoilers, are very similar to pictures, as are most other codes such as colors, italics, bold, and all that stuff.
Now take whatever you want to condense or hide, like for instance this smiley face thing,
in front put '(spoiler)' then behind '(/spoiler)
Used on the face with brackets it should come out as,
Also to put you own little message in the spoiler box, all you have to do is,
(Spoiler="Blah blah spoiler message")
The red part being what you add in to get the message.
